Home made Lemonchello. God I'm glad the Ferrari is in storage!

 

Recipe please. Love lemonchello!

 

Here is the recipie from my brothers post doc......


Ingedients:

12 organic lemons (so they don't have pesticides in the skin, because the alchohol will leach it out)
750 ml grain alchohol
1 litre water
1 pound sugar

Directions:

Zest the lemons -- that is, carefully peel the yellow skin, avoiding the bitter white rind. Put the zest and the alchohol into a clean bottle and let it sit for 10-40 days. The longer the better. Then, strain the mixture to remove the lemon zest. (Coffee filter or cheese cloth will work.) In a saucepan, mix the water and sugar. Heat the mixture and stir until the sugar dissolves. Let the mixture cool to room temperature. Mix the water/sugar mixture with the alcholol and pour it into a 1.75 Liter bottle. Put it in the freezer for a few hours, and presto, you have lemoncello.
