Just came across the wire............. http://www.planet-f1.com/ Is Frank reaching for the checkbook??? Kevin S. Orchard Park, NY
No. Frank Williams already stated that he wouldn't go after Button if the ruling is against him. So the question is: who will be parterning up against Webber? Will it be Pizzonia? In that case, this is Pizzonia's opportunity to prove that his disappointing performance in 2003, was due the the car. All he must do is keep up with Webber this time, or even beat him. I seriously think Pizzonia's is quick. Not too bright, but quick. Webber still hasn't convinced me, so I'll be watching that battle. Could it be Davidson? Davidson is as ready to go as he'll ever be? Question remains though, is he tied to BAR? I doubt that Williams will try to lure in another BAR-driver yet again. Is Coulthard a serious option? Coulthard is free to go and is even prepared to take a sabattical when things don't come his way in time. He is experienced and has run for the team before.
DC is doing jumping jacks right now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another life line has been thrown to Mr. "This is my Year" Regards, Jon P. Kofod www.flatoutracing.net
My bet is Davidson in the Williams. He has impressed everyone and woul dfit nicely into Frank's budget..............
No, I know that. I think an out was written into his contract that if Button didn't go to Williams then Fisi actually could go to Williams.
this is really going to shake things up. i also remember hearing about a possible fisi move to williams being possible. IF he takes that route, and there is some doubt that that would actually be better than staying at renault....then renault have said they would take jv on. sauber has said that they would not like this, but with peter sauber everything is a question of cash....which would then leave a seat open at ferrari junior - would dc take that? or would davidson? i think dave richards would allow ant to go to sauber but not to williams..... but then, button has said he will not drive at all if he is forced back to bar....so there might be even more intrigue coming...
What about one of the young guns like Glock (sp?)? I'm not sure if/how he is tied to Minardi. I wouldn't put it past Frankie to roll the dice on a kid! This will be interesting! Jim
Button has said that he won't drive for BAR in 2005. They cannot force him to drive for them. I think Williams might buy him out of his contract and get Jenson, leaving a seat at BAR for Davison. Either that or Jenson will take a year out. Whatever happens it sounds like Jenson has made the right move by sacking his manager!
So Villeneuve will stay at Renault??????? He better give them something to think about this upcoming final race!
According to what JB has said, "he will honor his contract to BAR and continue driving it 2005 for them". Man I really wanted to see JB and Williams next year. I'm not totally convinced Webber is that great. Having JB on the team would have put Webber's time in to perspective.
I personally think Williams would go for a proven, experienced driver. Webber is thrilling in qualifying but I doubt he can lead the team to success week after week. A driver like Coulthard would compliment Webber better than inexperienced drivers. This whole mess has turned me off of Button even more, I hope BAR make him the test driver next year if he even thinks about sandbagging. Anything less than 100% should mean instant demotion. If Button keeps his management company intact, you know he was just a guilty as they were in this whole affair. He has obviously received some bad advice, and unless he works to distance himself, his career will be tarnished permanently. A new team will always wonder if he will pull the same garbage on them regardless of how successful the team is at the time. I still don't understand how a driver like Fisichella can still command so much attention. He has won one single solitary race, and that race he won due to luck (remember the red flag, reverting back to lap prior order, etc). The cover story this month in F1 magazine is about how Hakkinen should have returned. I guess we'll never what could have been. He would have been the best for Williams or BAR, IMO.
The dark horse here is Hakkinen. According to F1Racing, he's in the best shape of his life and seems pretty antsy to get back into racing.
He has only been out qualified in one season. He has absolutely decimated some decently fast teammates: RS, JB & TS.
I agree with you Mr. Payne. Fisichella has never been in a really good car and he has continually outperformed his teammates. I think he will be with Renault next year but others are saying he might be able to go to Williams. If Fisi goes to Renault then his teammate will be Alonso right? So JV will still go to Sauber then. I am a little confused. I guess if Fisi was to go to Williams then Renault might go after JV. I just hope Fisi made the right decision to leave Sauber and go to Renault. Sauber has made a lot of progress this year. Either way J.V. will be in a decent car next year and Fisi will too so I am happy with that.
If BAR make him sit out for the 2005 season I will be pissing myself laughing ... major leason to JB, but in the end a real pity for us the spectators and BAR. BAR is now a good team and JB needs to be 100% focused on making it happen for BAR ... and Richards needs to learn how to make a happy team, as well as an effective one. So not all blame rests on JB's shoulders, Richards has to take some of the blame ... Pete
I think DR has done a supreme job compared to Craig Pollock..... But yeah agree with you on all acounts. Except for JB being focused. He is focused on driving for WIlliams at the moment. But i bet if BAR hands a plate of ASS to williams next year, JB would be happy with the situation.
Yes agree that Craig Pollock did not do the job. Do you think (if JB does drive next year) that JB will be able to give it 100%, and rally the team behind him again? Pete
