we know the car. already has a bid http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220067251704&fromMakeTrack=true
Yes, F-chattters car, and an Extremely nice car it appears to be, I am really interested in what this car makes. What sort of premium do you think (if any) that it deserves due to it's original owner? BTW does it mean the car has a big hooter?
Is there a real Ferrari buyer out there that gives a rat's ass that Babs drove this car? I don't think that adds one penny to value, although it does look nice enough on its own to get a nice price. DM
i posted the thread as i think there a good amount of information that b.s. was not the owner of the car. i think someone got creative with a hemmings ad years back and the story has stuck
Wow, first bid at $150K and reserve not met! Man, I really missed the boat on owning one of these! Birdman
I do not know B.S. but I know J. Peters very well who in fact bought the car for her in 74 from Hollywood Sports Cars. He loved her Dino so much he wanted to use another Ferrari in his first movie. also another gentleman who I do alot of car business with, was a Ferrari mechanics apprentice at the time @ Brunos on La Brea and he worked on the car as well as my white /red Daytona that was owned by Dick Wolfe the creator of Law and order and they stuck out to him because both were white /red cars.
I know that Mario Andretti once owned a 308GT4; about 8 years ago, Eddie Karam outside Philly showed me the owner's manual that had handwritten on page 1, "Mario Andretti, 1 Victory Lane, Nazareth PA." I bet THAT ownership would add to the value. Does anyone know where that car is now?
Why would anyone try to sell a car with such lousy photos. Is the car not worthy of getting full shots of it on both sides and how about some engine and interior shots? Note to self, do not photograph cars in full sun.
Congrats Kristian, may i be so bold as to ask what it went for as i am sure everybody on here would like to know as a reference point???? Regards G.P.
Ran into this thread a bit late...the B.S. Dino was in Seattle in the early 1980's, the then owner bought it at an auction and paid a premium owing to it's prior owner...somehow a figure in the high $20's springs to mind, we all thought he was insane. I remember driving this car after a major service and thinking what a worn out, old roach it was!
The car was sold from B.S to E Brown here in LA, then to Harry O at Top Auto , in Pasadena, Ca. who then sold it to Heritage Classics in W. Hollywood, I have photos when Harry O had it and it looked good , but all original. All of the paperwork I had never had the car in WA. state. regardless, the new owner got a excellent example. Even the Horseless Carriage Transporter thought it was drop dead gorgeus, and his truck was loaded with some very nice cars.
in early 80's the car was taken to a detail shop in the basement of grand prix motors in seattle. they were the local ferrari dealer. the owner had a disagreement with the detailer and as i recall had trouble getting the car back. i think it was taken back in some state of disassembly. at this point i think he lost interest in keeping it. [flaviaman - greg did you work at grand prix? if so you know me, dan z. ]
I think it would be cool to own a celebrity car, provided it was a decent car. I'd pay a bit more, but certainly wouldn't chase it. The Hollywood connection gives it some history, FWIW.
Let's see - the detailer (who was very good) in the basement of Grand Prix Motors in Seattle (before GPM was sold and became Ferrari of Seattle) was Eurosport. Was the dispute with Eurosport's predecessor? I can't imagine someone having a dispute with Eurosport - he really took care of my 246GTS. Mark (Seattle) P.S. Hey Dan Z., send me an email. Rolf Kopkee (sp!) at Continental Auto Detailing, I do not know if he is still in business, he moved out of the basement of Grand Prix in the early 1980s'... Hi Varoooooooooooooooooooooooooom!
Speaking of posers (oops, I mean customers) being insane... In the early 1990s I was trying to complete my Dino items and was in the Parts Dept at GP motors getting prices from Jennifer (remember her?). She quoted me $25 from FNA for a correct Dino emergancy triangle in the case and then couldn't believe the price so she called you over. You confirmed it and then both of you rolled your eyes in disbelief at the high price price. It was a kodak moment! Scott
Times change....I wish I had retained half the cr*p I threw out of that place....needless to say it was long before eBay days. I can remember when front batchboards exceeded $150 and people refused to pay that much money for them.... I am pleased to report that Jennifer has calmed down(!!!) and is a productive member of the human race.
