I did an event there last spring w/ the local PCA chapter. amazing track, amazing facilities, amazing museum. poor DE management and way overcrowded though.

never heard of ReZoom, look to be specific to the southeast. how'd they score the track day at Daytona in December? very cool :)

I believe the principals are an offshoot from a Tennessee PCA group. The PCA event I went to with them was well-organized and not overcrowded. www.rezoommotorsports.com

Stan Mosley, one of several Eastern Tennessee PCA organizers who "privatized" some of their club events, runs Re-Zoom. They have done a reasonable job in the past.

I have done track days on motorcycles there. It is, without a doubt, the best track I have ridden on in the US, and it should be great fun in a car, too. Super smooth, fun technical aspects with blind corners and some off camber, and the straights are long enough to challenge you for deep braking into some interesting turns. The chicane on the back straight should be fun and the elevation changes make it special. Make sure you set aside at least 4 or 5 hours to visit the museum.

Man, it took me more than a day. For a few weekends.

When you start getting under 1:30 there, stuff starts coming up FAST! :D

Mike- just sent you a PM. I'll be there in a blue Gallardo. Hanging out with a buddy in his red R8 (sister cars :) ) He doesn't know I have the Gallardo yet.

Have run DE's with ReZoom at VIR the past 3-4 years. One day events are well run, small groups, and good drivers. Give 'em a try.

Bump. Anyone else interested in coming out to play?

Had a great first track day in the Gallardo yesterday at VIR- will post up separately about that.

Tiger- nice to see yet another NSX owner here on F-Chat.

Because of the grim weather report I stayed home. Did you get much track time?

Mike- the weather ended up being fine. I had only one session that was curtailed (by 2 laps only) due to a torrential downpour. The track was damp a couple of times, so some of the guys on R-compounds chose not to run. Overall we were very lucky. I got in enough track time to "chunk" the treads on the OEM Pirelli P-Zero Rossas (left front only).

Barber is an awesome track. And the surroundings / landscaping are just on another level.

The vintage motorcycle/motorsports museum is a world-class facility too.

One interesting thing about the weather- I was staying in a friend's RV just outside the track's (locked) gates. Saturday night, we had some heavy rain. Which turned to hail. Any my Lamborghini was completely vulnerable - locked in the paddock with not so much as a car cover on it. The inside of the RV sounded like a popcorn popper. But luckily we found the car unscathed in the morning- the aluminum body was in great condition. WHEW!!!

The F430 didn't show either- so mine was the only Italian car there (except for a "civilian" Quattroporte in the paddock). I did get to drive my friend's Audi R8 on some nearby country roads, and he drove the Gallardo, so we were able to compare these "sister" cars.

I've driven Barber quite a bit and it is one of my favorites. However, when it rains because the track is so smooth it is really slick. Sounds like it probably would have been OK, but the weather reprt kept getting worse as the week went on - they said 80-90% chance of rain.

We were quite lucky- a huge band of storms stayed just north of us all day Saturday. North of I-20 got pummeled. And Sunday the storms were below us, except for the occasional shower. The elevation/camber changes at Barber probably help with rain runoff too.
