This update was already planned before the first test. I'm sure they even said so publicly. Ferrari can and will upgrade also. Red Bull have a big update coming.

Yep, that’s why it’s called testing. I’m sure MB added a few things along the way on top of the original updates....now is Ferrari that fast that they don’t have to test? 6 Laps?

Ok here is Charlie coming out in the last hour before the break. Need laps!

Back in the old days when I had a real job, I worked for some people who micromanaged, and others that gave freedom. I managed a small company for about 4 years and at one of our major customers, we went from being the worst to the best supplier (and it was a major motor maker) in a relatively short time just by giving more freedom to people to solve their own problems.

If Ing. Binotto guides his people and let them use their talents, we will win !!!!

Good to see Russell having a decent run this morning. Working through the program .Alfa seem to be consistently up there so far, encouraging.

Mercedes ,the only thing that surprised me was their 3rd sector time of 1 sec faster than anyone..

Apparently Ferrari had to check something with the cooling system.

I know for a fact that Ferrari kept backing off in S3 on their fast laps...

These things take some time, that was designed months ago.

I'm surprised about that they bothered to build temporary sidepods for the first testing. Usually they change wings and bargeboards but not entire sidepods. Life is easier on a high budget I guess.

Should have been checked back in Maranello before they got to Barcelona-my point is that every lap is important to acquire data. Hopefully they will pile on the laps this p.m. Need to build on last week’s excellent work....

Leclerc has said it-everybody is sandbagging....

Edit-even stroll had 2 fast sector times and pitted-even the “best of the rest” teams are playing possum...

Mercedes causes red flag. Car stopped on track on Bottas's first lap of the day.

Dumb question, after last week's testing, did the teams bring all of their cars etc back to their home base (seems like an incredible expense etc) or did they continue to work on the vehicles at the circuit?

15:31 Before Bottas came to a halt after Turn 3, he'd gone out on the old wing that Mercedes ran last week with the inwash endplates.

Evidently, Mercedes fancied doing some comparison runs as part of its validation phase, but the Finn's truncated running has delayed that somewhat.

Hoping the perceived Ferrari early advantage is real and grows from possible Merc setbacks here. Would love to see Merc chasing its "aero-tail" through the season. Maybe they even introduce a new ineffectual floor or two half-way through.

You mean pull a Ferrari and lose the development war like last year? Lol

The more I follow these tests the more I think everyone is sandbagging it.

Well, that bit about the floor was a bit familiar wasn't it? Yes, I think lots of sandbagging going on as well.
