We have all the reason to be skeptical but it actually does look like we have a fantastic car so far. Unless Mercedes is towing an entire lorry full of sandbags...I see our closest competition as Red Bull really. One of them should be beaten easily.
Small fire at McLaren under the engine cover ... The mechanics have rushed to dismantle the engine cover....

Read that there was reportedly a small puff of smoke out of the Ferrari before Leclerc stopped at the end of the session.
Vettels "rim" blowing out. Good vid. 2 vids....one is at regular speed then the 2nd one slows down at time of failure. https://twitter.com/Vetteleclerc/sta...80909204705280
+1 I have'nt seen any components changed since day 1. These same components have racked up AAAAALOT of km or miles. Bout time something gave. Forza Ferrari
Per motorsport, looks like it was an exhaust issue on the Ferrari. Haas previously had a header failure apparently.
https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/141823/gasly-left-bit-shaken-after-big-testing-crash Pierre Gasly says he was left "a bit shaken" by his crash on the penultimate day of Barcelona Formula 1 pre-season testing, describing the incident as one of his biggest. Gasly dipped the left wheels of his Red Bull into the grass approaching the fast Campsa right-hander and was pitched off the track as he tried to turn in. The car slammed into the tyre wall, with the crash ripping the front and rear wings off the RB15. Gasly visited the medical centre but was swiftly released without injury. "I'm fine, a bit shaken, but I made a mistake in Turn 9 and you guys saw what happened," Gasly said. "Pretty big crash, one of the biggest crashes I had. "Long night for the mechanics, sorry for that." Gasly, who is preparing for his debut season with Red Bull after promotion from Toro Rosso, had already had an accident on the second day of the opening week of testing. But Gasly refuted the suggestion that his second big crash in testing meant he was lacking confidence with the Red Bull.
Good info. Generating some MTBF numbers....or one number anyway. Strong car, solid pace, good driving, and great team morale from your (and other) reports. I'll be darned if this optimism isn't infectious.
True Looks to be an exhaust issue anyways. All Ferrari cars went from a 3 stack(exhaust plus 2 wastegates) in the first test to a 2 stack in the 2nd test. HAAS experienced the same issue. Maybe we should go back to the 3 stack config. as we racked up some serious km/miles in the first test. "If it ain't broke,....." cliche applies in this case IMO.
