No, not really, but still. I went by the old shut down automotive museum of Ålholm not far from here. It was closed in 2008 after they failed to repair the buildings. They are in dire need of fixing. So everything is basically just falling apart. They once had a 2 mile 70cm railway that ran down to the sea and back to the museum. It went through veru nice scenery. The train stopped back in the mid 80's I believe. I remember riding with it in the 70's. They have 224 cars, among them 1 Ferrari. Most cars are from before 1940, and they have quite a few from before 1904 as well. The collection goes from 1886 and until "now". I could sneak into one of the buildings, but then it was sealed off from the "holy grail" where they store the cars. And you can't talk sense with the owners about geting into the halls to see the cars. It's impossible. Once back in the days, 70's and 80's they took the cars out for a spin around the area here. That has also stopped. Anyway, a few pics... Somewhere inside, unless they sold it, they also have Professor Fate's "Hannibal 8". 1 of 6 cars build for the movie "The Great Race".
The plane in the pic is just there for kids to play with. The train was used on the rails, but they didn't fix it when it broke. Now it is in this condition. They also have planes inside the big hangar. I have a catalogue and will try and take a few pics of it so people can see what it looked like once.
I went back today with a friend. Terms are the same as in the first post, but today I sneaked into one of the barns. A barn open to weather conditions, but with roof. Other cars, among them the Ferrari 250 GTE, (UNLESS it has been sold without me noticing it.) are now covered in plastic wrap and prepared for auction I would think. The cow who own it and ruined it want to sell everything. Grrrr https://picasaweb.google.com/100065914028759696895/AalholmAutomobilMuseum#5577395719589965154 Anyway, here are the pics from today... The entire collection of cars is now going up for auction. http://www.rmauctions.com/EventInfo.cfm?SaleCode=AL12 See some of the cars here. wouldn't mind having that J35 in my back yard a shame they're just letting it sit there, but then the same is true for a couple of J35's and AJ37's sitting outside at our airforce museum here.
If you are serious about it then you should contact them and ask about a price. I can't imagine them NOT parting with that plane, when they are trying to offload all the cars.
I'll bet you that you'll soon get a PM/email from the guys at Jalopnick.... Ask me how I know (previous barn find thread I ran last year) Jedi
Me? *LOL* They want to buy the collection? It is a nice chance to get to own some cars rather cheap with an eye on restoration
Estimated prices now at the cars. "The 250 GT/E is estimated to go between 55.000 and 65.000. In need of some touching up though. http://www.rmauctions.com/FeatureCars.cfm?SaleCode=AL12&CarID=r102&fc=0 The Testarossa 30-40.000 http://www.rmauctions.com/FeatureCars.cfm?SaleCode=AL12&CarID=r101&fc=0 This lot will be sold with the following documents: Bill of Sale Successor to the Berlinetta Boxer, the Ferrari Testarossa was built from 1984 to 1991. Designed by Pininfarina, it is powered by a 4,943 cc flat-twelve, located behind the cockpit and driving the rear wheels. This 1985 Ferrari Testarossa is a low-mileage example, having covered just 12,700 kilometres. Striking in Rosso Corsa, it has tan leather seating and matching cockpit carpets. The engine compartment would benefit from detailing but is otherwise in fine condition. The cars original tool kit is included in the sale. Originally delivered to a Venetian prince, Victor-Emmanuel de Savoie, it has not seen recent use and should be thoroughly recommissioned for the road before being placed in service. A very straight, early Testarossa, it will be the source of much enjoyment for its new owner."
Certainly your knowledge base puts mine to shame yet I must agree with you strickly based on the 250GTE and 330GTE's I have seen in the various tv auctions. If memory serves me I saw a 330GTE came across the auction block not too long ago that was well above $100K. Kinda makes me sad knowing that in the very late '80s I found a local 330GTE for $10K but could not borrow the money to purchase it, stepdad who was a non-car guy thought I was off my rocker. Allow me to stray a tad as this also reminds me of the FIAT 'Dino" I found for $3K shortly after that and tried to get a friend to go 50/50 with me but he also opted out. He had a convertible GTO 'Judge' that he sold in the low 5 figures and has cried for the past 20+yrs about that mistake as they are now in the high 6 figures, I told him not to sell. Sorry please continue.
Come on over and buy it I have no idea what the value is. But I know the Ford Edsel is missing from the auction. I know it can be a very valuable car. I am wondering if someone saw my pics (they were lifted either from here or my FB account (which isn't open to everybody) and plastered all over the net, even ended up in the two biggest newspapers here in DK) and bought it before the auction? GOing for a good buy before RM step in a take a look at the cars. The collection is owned by the former owners girls, and I am quite certain they have no idea what they are dealing with.
Some of the cars for sale. I would buy three of those here in a heartbeat if I had the cash The Testarossa only got 12.700km on it. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
