http://www.barrett-jackson.com/events/scottsdale/vehicles/cardetail_list.asp?id=180070 Does anybody know about this car????
For whatever it's worth, a very wise friend once told me that auctions are where you sell cars, not where you buy them....
Where ya been, OG?????? You are absolutley right on that. Interesting to note the charity donation tie in, on that car.......
Wise but another wise man said Hell Don't sell a Ferrari at B+J Sell American Iron. Buy ferrari yes but SELL AMERICAN....
I tend to agree with writerguy...I can't recall the last time a Ferrari went way over the top @ BJ...on the other hand, I can't think of another place I've seen more vettes & hemis sell for new record prices... That said its a good time even if your not buying or selling...
This car is being auctioned with ALL the proceeds going directly to ChildHelp USA, the premier organization in the US dealing with severely abused children. The Dino is being donated by The Popes, and Linda Pope is the chairperson of the Fund Raising drive being done in conjunction with Barrett-Jackson, called "drive The Dream". It is an extraordinarily generous gesture and the campaign in total, which includes a Gala Dinner at BJ on the Wednesday night, should raise enough money to run the Phoenix chapter's center, which is the primary resource for Arizona authorities to begin investigation of abuse cases. The center has a comforting environment where children can be interviewed in a non threatening environment and where care is given by therapists and medical personnel. The tragedy is that the center processes more than 700 abuse cases per month in Phoenix alone. Childhelp is a national organization and they have a toll free hotline where abuse can be reported. 800-4 A CHILD. The Dino is in wonderful condition, even if the resoration is not to original specs, as in the seats. The cause is very worthwhile and hopefully the Dino will fetch much more than it is worth.
I looked at this car when it went up for auction 2 years ago at BJ. I spoke with the owner of it(at the time) as well and checked into the restoration that was done. The previous owner put a ton of money into it. However, there is something odd about the bumpers ..they appear to be euro bumpers and it is a US spec car. I thought that this was strange given the money that was spent on the car but the owner really didn't know much about it. Also the seats were well done but are an aquired taste(so to speak). There were a few pro's that inspected the car & they ran from it. However, it appears to be for a good cause and will likely trade for big money.
He must have used a lot of pennies if the money he put in it weighed a ton!... good grief, that's 2000 pounds of money.
Added bonus for BJ Ferrari purchases - if you're bidding onstage, Alain De Cadenet may shove a mike in your face and start interviewing you - well worth the price of purchase.
Easily done with a Dino! .......... And I like the seats...........yo! Child Advocates here in Houston.........see Speedy308's cart racing exploits here.........
