    I was just channel flipping and saw a red on tan 1985 400i with a SBC Corvette V8 conversion sell for $45K (plus buyer's premium)... So close to $50K.

    On TV, the car looked to be in beautiful condition. I was a bit surprised by the high price, given the conversion.

    Anyone here purchase/sell it? Anyone familiar with this car?

    I looked the car over yesterday and it is not a premium car. Overall an average used car with a fresh coat of resale red paint. Not a bad car but not a cream puff either. I was surprised at the price and it only goes to show the appeal an value of these cars are finally going up. The one that really surprised me was the 355 Spider that only sold for $37,500. Even though it had a salvage title, it looked like a real nice car and a lot nicer than the 400i.

    Me too. The V12 is the best part of the car.
