The Fly Dino went for just over $100,00.
    A rough 512BB for 30 something.
Another Boxer, more stock, for just a bit more.
American Muscle was in the $300,00s all day, every day.
    Whats w/ that?

Karen there are five other threads on B-Jkson... But not to be a repost whore the Dino was NOT worth 100k (needs 20-30k to make it right and even then 100k for a dino is WAY TOO MUCH) the boxer (both) were around the right price for the condition (a 308 Gts that was in need of at least 30k work went for 52k) big money for that car.

Barretts is THE place to sell american iron not the place to sell italian. i was there...

    Careful Will, she's pretty tough!

Those were all beaters, the long and the short of it.....

Auctions like that are good for sellers, bad for buyers and rabbits with pancakes atop the head!

    ROTFLMAO!

Are you saying American Muscle went for $300,000+? I don't understand your comma placement.

Well, it's an American run auction in America so maybe that's why, just a guess though. All the people who are bidding grew up with these cars, saw them parked in their highschool parking lots, dreamed about them, in many cases bought them etc. It's really not that hard too understand where they're coming from.

although for those of us who lived thru the late '80s collector car bubble/burst, there are alarming parallels, this time with American muscle cars.........

. . . and the free alcohol helps. I was at the B-J bidder's bar for three hours drinking tequila and beer - every car looked overly expensive at first, but as the evening wore on everything started looking like a reasonably good deal. Go figure!

The muscle cars will continue to rise. In the 80's just as every Ferrari it seems was a cool mil, the muscle cars went up also, they just didnt come down as far. Last year at this auction was the same thing, the muscle cars ruled the show. I have a 98 355 GTS and a few muscle cars, i can sell my muscle cars faster and make double what i paid for them 6 years ago.

One of these days the muscle car guys are going to wake up and realize that a GTO is just a Lemans with a big motor and that a Hemi Cuda is just a Valiant with a big motor. It will be like they've awakened from a long drunk. "I spent HOW much? On WHAT??? I must have been insane!!!!!" Time to unload. The market will be flooded with questionable musclecars to go unlong with the thousands of Blingmobiles whose owners also realized the folly of their ways. Speaking of Bling, last night I saw a 4 door Oldsmobile, which is probably worth about $500. But it had a set of 20 inch wire spoke wheels that probably cost $300 each at least. Now that's a sound monetary decision. The car is worth $500, the wheels $1200. I can see a huge UNLOADING way off in the distance that will exceed the great VAN craze of the 70s.
Holy cow!!! I've invented the next craze. MuscleVans with Bling! An old Ford Econoline stuffed with a 426 Hemi, a 1000 watt stereo, satellite TV, bouncing suspension hydraulics like a low rider, and wire spoke wheels with rotating knockoffs all the way around. Who's "down for it"???

a fool and his money are soon parted. i've always wondered how the fool got the money in the first place. the staggering amounts they nonchalantley paid for cars i've totalled in a drug and booze induced stupor just blow my mind. that road runner that went for like 100k or something just as absurd, my cousin and i wrapped one around a light pole after hitting 5 parked cars. i was in a buds 409 impala, almost exactly like the one that went for 85k. we parked that sucker in a ditch after going between two trees and wiping out both sides, an amazing feat of driving considering he was lighting a bowl with both hands while holding a bottle of jack between his legs and steering with his knees. if i knew then what i know now.

The other thing is it doesn't cost $6k every 4 years for an engine out service on the 65 vette, and its just as fast as my 355.

Muscle cars are a good investment now. If you loose a motor it dosen't cost 30k to find a new one or have it rebuilt like a classic ferrari.
A 63 split window engine or trany could be rebuilt for pennys compared to rare European cars. Something to think about.

Jerrari: Ok, the Hemi Cuda & like went for over three hundred thousand dollars.
How do Ferrari "beaters" get accepted? That’s just wrong w/ the class of the other cars. At least they bashed the Lambo for being "dated".

I just read where a company spent over 2 million dollars on dirt in a construction project. Sorta gives a new meaning to "dirt cheap" .

Looking at this and last years BJ auction, seems like those who bought Ferrari's there overpaid in most every case.

the bottom line is you will make more money selling a muscle car than a Ferrari. The muscle car "craze" has been around a long time and will continue to bring real money, no matter if a GTO is a lemans, The numbers don't lie.

Muscle cars with decent engines were always fast, but they can't turn without massive understeer and body roll not to mention the live axles bouncing all over causing the car to jump a foot over quickly over bumps in fast sweepers or stop safely, which is why many are wrecked or never go on a track except to drag race. You got what you paid for with them thats why they were cheap new vs the european performance cars that could go fast and handle as well.

The ridiculous prices of these cars today is just speculation and has nothing to do with what they are really worth compared to exotics like Ferraris, just as you can't explain why Nascar is so popular with cars that can only turn left its a similar phenomenon, too each his own, and I am glad these risk takers don't like Ferraris and speculate with them or I could never afford the classic models I like.

The muscle-car boom is in full effect right now. You will see some of the rarer cars going in excess of 200 and 300k because the demand is there. I'm not sure how a Dino managed to snag 100k, that seems incredibly rediculous. From what I hear they have beer and liquor flowing at those B-J auctions....:)
