    +1.

Just because a driver had a couple of seasons in a red car doesnt mean he is a superhero and superior to the other 19 guys on the field.

He's a great driver but Button is incredibly smooth and Barrichello just isn't the quickest guy in the field anymore.

That said, always liked him and I'll miss him thoroughly when he's finished with F1.

not at all..hats off to Button for a kick ass start to the season but IMHO Barrichello should be at least keeping him honest and challenging him given that he has worked with Brawn for many years and SHOULD have given valuable input into the design of the car...NOT! disappointed 'so far is an understatement!

JB is very much like Schumi. Controlled, and always looks smooth. Rubens, i think it's still a bit too early to judge him. Button is unproven at handling pressure, so Rubinho might just have an upper hand. Plus, Button could be distracted by that Jessica girl of his. She's some hot stuff :D

Barichello is an old man. He turns 37 in May, 'bout time to hang up the firesuit and let someone else have the seat.

I agree, I thought it was funny that Piquet was holding him up a little and he was complaining. I guess Rubino forget he was a moving chicane with Honda all those years.

    You're joking, right?

Before addressing your "point" I'd like to say if I were a mod the subject line would cause me to hand you a brief "timeout" - If you'd said that about someone here you'd get one - Maybe Rubens reads this nausea and wants to flag your childish and asinine comment himself. OK, rant off.

Returning to your comment: *Nobody* has over 270 starts, 9 wins, 63 podiums, over 550 points, 13 poles and 16 fastest laps if they "stink". [Yes, he was in a Ferrari, hanging on to MS coat-tails, but that's a long way from "stinking".]

Yes, he was overshadowed by MS, but I reckon that everyone on the planet was overshadowed by him. OTOH, who's to say that if MS' and JB's positions were reversed it wouldn't be JB retired now with 7 WDC crowns? [I'm not saying that would have been the case, just that we'll never know.]

JB's been *very* marginally quicker in the first few races and is maybe getting a chance to show MS style talent......

Rubens is quick, intelligent and (FWIW) seems to be a genuinely nice guy - "Embarrassing" - NO!

    Cheers,
    Ian

Barrichello will always be the other driver. Just like Massa. But given their compensation, there's no need to feel sorry for them.

RB has never been anything but a decent 2nd fiddle. To me, he is like an older version of Massa. RB will never win a world championship, no matter how good his luck is, or what car he is driving. I think Massa, with a huge amount of luck, still has the possibility of winning a world championship.

Agreed on all except that Massa's luck run out: No title this year and with Alonso as his team mate next year no title either. After Ferrari he'll be back in a midfield team.

It's tricky, it's a well know fact RB, was made to play 2nd fiddle to MS not a nice role to play, but I'am sure he knew that when he took on the job.
So it's hard to say about his overall real career results..not the best but certainly not the worst.

I like him and he has my respect, a nice guy IMO.

Glad his comment gave you a laugh.

Unfortunately, IMHO, it also revealed a serious lack of knowledge on your part - I don't have time to find sources right now, but ever since he "appeared" (back in F/Ford and F3 IIRC) he's been considered as "super smooth", "relaxed" and was indeed compared to MS in terms of "style" behind the wheel.

[Then the British press got hold of him and tore the wheels off - Much as they're trying to do with LH right now..... But that's another story ;)]

    Cheers,
    Ian

Button is a fantastic driver, no doubt. But he is not on the Schumacher level. Of the current field only Alonso, Vettel and possibly Hamilton are.

I was deeply disappointed by his lousy drive in Shanghai. I always thought he was another rainmaster, but he looked more like Massa.

Ok.... I saw his front wheel lifting on that corner, didn't think he was that bad, I blamed the car he was driving, bit like FA last year pushing it too much, in a car that won't give it back.

    Oh well.

Very little knowledge is needed on this one, my friend. Just look at the results column, it speaks volumes. :)

Matchett mantioned something about this on one of the post race programs. In order to squeeze out some performance from the car Lewis had to run the chassis extremely low and stiff. Since most weather reports said low chance of rain it made sense. Of course once the heavy rains came the car turned into a surfboard! I wouldn't put the blame on Lewis for this one.

Ian, yes I am aware of his career stats and yes I agree I was frustrated when I wrote the title of the thread and post so let the mods change it to what ever they please but it does not change the fact that he should quite F1 NOW if he is going to get schooled by Button at this stage in his career !..ya nice guy this and that for sure..I met him in Montreal a few years back but who gives a crap about nice...this is F1 baby..if you can't take the heat get off the asphalt !!!

saying that I truly hope he gets back into form for the rest of the year and at least challenges Button as we all know he is capable of doing!

I'm really glad to see RB back in the hunt. He deserved better then being a back marker before retirement.

    RB makes very few mistakes.

RB doesn't stink but he's really just a mid pack driver. He's nothing special.

I think the issue is that JB is something special. Not on the level of Hamilton or Alonso (or Schumy) but he is certainly a talent towards the upped end of the field.

Barrichello was always a mid pack driver. He is another Massa... a guy who can deliver if everything goes perfectly for him, but who can't do anything if the stars don't line up just right.

This will be his last year in F1, and it really should be... there is just no possible way a 37 year old has the same skill and reflexes as a 23 year old.

He may be a nice guy but people too often confuse nice with fast or with good. RB isn't in this thread, and I don't think any of us are related to him, so I think it's OK to say he sucks or stinks if one thinks so.
