That is probably the most subjective question in sports right now. As long as he holds the record I don't think there will be a majority on any one side. In any case, barring Armageddon occurs in the next 6 or 7 years, a-rod will crush Bonds and then everyone can sleep easy.

Well he's still the best one on steriods tho right? I mean there's a lot to choose from but I'd say he's the best of that lot:)

A little boy goes up to Bonds during an autograph session and says, "Mr. Bonds, will you please sign my asterisk?"

I think 99% of the other "pros" could not get close to Bonds no matter how many drugs, surgeries or training they did or were allowed to do :D I always winced when people mentioned the Babe with an asterisk "boozer, alcoholic, womanizer", I never understood the need to denigrate a great accomplishment.

I like to think the women helped. He was able to focus on the ball during the game knowing plenty of women were at the bar :)

it would be interesting to consider that Bonds was not the only one doing steroids; is it improbable pitchers and others of great accomplishment were also using steriods as well? something to consider. I'd venture to guess the playing field was probably more level than we give him credit for since steroids were more prevalent in the game than we all know [or can prove].

Unfortunately for him, those other players were not tied to the Bay Area Labs fiasco...

I'd guess at last 1/4 of all major leaguers have done some sort of unnatural medical enhancement, from eye surgery to give them 20/15 vision, to operations which add 5mph on to their fast ball, to drugs. Either it's all cheating, or none of it is.

It's the game that Bud Selig created - there's no reason for him to sulk about it now - everyone, including him, knew what was going on. No way Sosa is good enough to hit 66 home runs, except maybe with that corked bat he was caught using. McGuire hit 70? Maybe - but we all know he was juiced. Bonds hit 73? Unlikely. The Commish did what he needed to do to bring $$$ back to the game, and frankly, I commend him for it - I don't want to see players like Tony Gwynn hit singles up the middle- I want to see home runs.

Bond may hit as many as 800, but even if you take away all his home runs, his stats are still good enough for the Hall.

The San Diego pitcher that pitched #755 to him had been suspended in 2005 for 15 games in the minor leagues for steriod use.

Regardless. Steroids do not give you hand - eye coordination and that is what you have to have to hit homeruns. So everyone has to give him some credit....

I think it was too bad the next 24 hours was an anti-Bonds tirade by way too many talking heads.
    ________

    Saw it on Mythbusters recently...

Corked back is lighter, but acts as a sponge, not a spring as Sosa, et al. had wishfully thought. Fact is, a batted ball from a corked stick travels at half the speed of an unaltered bat.
