I’m still loosely watching the FF market and today I was legitimately busy at work and lost track of time. Last night I told my wife I’d let her know if this ended under $100k….i told her we would have to have a “discussion” if I felt it was buyable under $94…. Very surprised today when it hammered and SOLD for $91 plus fees. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2012-ferrari-ff-31/#comments-anchor ZFF73SKA8C0188599 perhaps the market continues to soften?
I have to think the PTU issue on this model is frightening to casual buyers. I'm not saying *this* machine has that problem. Heck of a deal for that machine if it is solid mechanically.
FF values are softening everywhere. In the US, the UK and Europe. Nothing to do with PTUs (V8 Lussos also softening).
Looks pretty fair for that car, especially considering the ~15k in paint and interior work it'd need to make it look up to snuff.
I'm in the market too (sold my FF and kicking myself ever since) and watched that car but I think what scared me off was the lack of maintenance, zero records and known issues. The current owner had it for three years, and it appears he never serviced it. It needed to have interior work due to leather shrinkage and sticky buttons fixed which isn't cheap. I assumed that once the known issues were addressed and a proper service was done (and addressing surprises due to lack of maintenance), I would have been at the same price point I would be for a car that has been maintained properly with a known history. Hopefully, the new owner gets it back in proper form and comes out OK.
Your approach is always sage, my only exception would be for something rare/unusual. Truthfully I am only casually watching the FF market…. I’m very happy with my 550 (never selling) but I’ve got two young daughters so I always have 3 or 4 people in the car so the 550 rarely gets exercised 8-(
Winning bidder here. Also just joined Ferrari chat today but was lurking last couple months as I was obsessing over the FF. Stumbled upon this thread today. I’ll be honest. I was surprised at the result. I placed the minimum bid 10 minutes before close expecting the car to end at 110k+ with the typical BaT last few minutes of action. I was shocked when I got the email saying I was winning bidder. I agree and logically have thought if I want a well sorted FF I’m better off going for 135k+. The last one I liked on BaT went for 150k before auction fee and the seller wouldn’t allow me to get the car inspected due to so much local interest and not wanting to disrupt showings (it was in Austin) and 150k before auction fees and shipping was more than I was prepared to pay. so now…I’m cross my fingers and hope not much work. Going to make arrangements to pick up the car (2 hours from my house or I may tow it to an indie Ferrari shop directly) and get the car thoroughly looked over. I’ll keep you posted. This could be a good buy or a nightmare.
you bought the car well. i know a few people who are kicking themselves for not going for it. Even if you need to do ptu and dct you are in the money. the only annoying this about this car will be the number of wheels you bend, depending on where you live. if the roads suck near you go for meatier tires, that has helped me.
thank you. I’m hoping that’s the case. I plan to drive it, so some patina on paint doesn’t concern me as much as I can feel less guilty for the occasional nick or scratch. Ideally, I would wrap in color of my choice but the Grigio on Cuoio that sold at end of May was perfect. Low miles, loaded w pano roof and appeared well maintained. $59k price difference is my selling point to my wife though, lol. I had hoped to buy that car for under 135k. I recently moved to Northern NJ from NYC so beefier tires would be better. What sizes do you advise? They didn’t note forged wheels but they appear to be the forged style. I’m looking at picking up another set for winter tires as well. After the auction, I immediately called my car enthusiast friend who instantly understood my “uhhhh…” and silence that I won the “throw away” bid…I texted my wife “good news bad news” but I always said she knows I’m a child and once I said I wanted a Ferrari FF 2+ months ago, I’d find a way and she would deal w it. I’ll do some more research on the forum but my plan was to take it to GTE Engineering for a thorough inspection. Hopefully I get some additional indication of last maintenance from seller (a family office arranged the sale for the owner). Concerns are the leaks and if only 500 miles added under current ownership, hoping misc gaskets and what not don’t need replacements as I’ve paid dearly for letting one of my other cars sit too long. thank you everyone!
@Mtrizzz Keep the stories coming. I’ve got 8&9 year old daughters and always am interested in hearing more from people that are using them as a daily with passengers. Jealous and excited for you.
you got it. I have 3 daughters 6,4 and 1. I kick myself for not buying the Benz car seat sensors a couple months ago to disable front airbag for car seat use as I knew it might be a little ridiculous to start hoarding accessories for a car I didn’t own yet…I fooled myself. Probably for the best since I don’t think I ever want to be solo with 3 small children ever. I’ll have two booster seats in the rear at all times on this car. We use an X7M for daily use for the family but hoping I can find excuses to use it to haul the older 2 around already spending too much time researching what winter wheel package, car stereo upgrade and misc I want to do and the car isn’t here yet. Expecting to spend a lot more time on this forum…

Sure, type/build date? I had looked at sensors that were pulled from a seat so I could mine but either way works. any suggestions on tire sizes are appreciated!
Not sure what tire sizes i have- havent driven the car in months. All the info is one of the threads. I bought the car seat in 2010 when i got my 458. I think car seats expire with a certain amount of time.
Good win and great value. I passed on a car that was about the same price and similar interior condition but over double the miles, so I think this result is really far and in the money for you. Fix or don’t but drive it for sure. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Glad to have you in FChat. The FF is a truly great car and we're all hoping you come out way ahead. Keep the info and pics coming.
