I think I have found a race to add to my bucket list, in fact, I think it leap-frogged over every event except LeMans.

Bathhurst - for the fans - looks like it is stuck in the 60's, where you can camp out right next to the track.
    This I want to do!

Oh - and the television coverage was THE best I have seen in a long long time, in fact it may have been the best-ever.

Do it man, I have NEVER been to one live but have watched it on tv since as far back as I can remember. I hope to go to one race with my family one day.

You can camp there, but some areas are REALLY bad. Spectators become very drunk, fight and burn cars etc...etc. Tarnishes it a little bit, but those hooligans stick to their own areas.

It's a family event and I wouldn't hesitate to take my family there. Just need to stay away from the drunks and I think they are trying to clean up that part of it. :)

I also noticed at the start of the race the television coverage/camera angles was quite poor. The camera guys were zooming in too close to the cars and I hoped it got better over the course of the day because I only watched the first 20 laps. I noticed the last 10 laps the quality was better and some of the camera angles was great. :)

Australian V8 Super cars is everything NASCAR could
    be.

And, if NASCAR intends to maintain their market share,
a shift to a silhouette formula such as in Australia may
    well be what is needed.

Waltrip was less and less amusing as the race went on.
The constant coorelations between the Australian V8
Supercars ("them" and "us") and if he mentioned that
he got a ride around the course with Jason Bright, I was
ready to pull an Elvis and shoot the TV.

I don't suppose it was ever mentioned that Jason Bright
raced Champ Cars or that Allan Moffat won the 1975
    12 Hours of Sebring.

I saw about the last 15 laps, it looked pretty good to me.

People need to just stop dissecting every single thing a person does or does not say at a race, it's not about 'them', just take it for what its' worth, listen or ignore, but so far, I have yet to hear anyone call a perfect race, except for possibly Murray Walker.
And keep in mind it's pretty hard to stay 'sharp' when you are broadcasting a race for seven (7) freaking hours. I thought DW did a pretty good job, after all, he is broadcasting back to America, he HAS to draw comparisons to what we are used to.

As far as America needing to model nascar after supercars, that won't happen.

Jason Bright - raced in TWO Champ Car races, retired from one and finished 31st in the other, that hardly makes it worthy of even a mention, unless he won a race. He didn't.

    Just watched the crash...yikes!

I sure hope the TX event happens. I gotta get me a Pontiac G8, ie pseudo Holden Commodore, and stage a Bubba 1000 there and back! :D
