Cyclone Yasi is(at this point)is about 1200 klm from smacking Cairns and the Tablelands fair in the guts. Stocked up with food,fuel,geny.......................................................... and plenty of beer.
Stay safe guys! My eldest son was with us at GC at Christmas when we both left just prior to floods as it happened.. he got stuck just 1 overnight Hervey Bay on way back before making it back to Airlie by car. This past week he has been down with us where are are experiencing a *heat* wave but tomorrow due to fly back to Airlie into what looks like another *tidal* wave! Water water everywhere.. need some back here as it's total fire ban now.. weird fluctuations as it was days of fog and drizzle not so long ago!
Hi Simon, I hope it does no more damage than Anthony did. The far north and central qld have had enough bad weather over the last few months. Just picked our car up from Mackay, we left it there after the Whitsunday holidays as we could not drive back, hoped we could get it on a car carrier but they are flat out so I flew up last week and was worried about getting stuck up there with cyclone anthony. Our thoughts are with you all.
Take care Simon, they did say on the radio down here today that most modern homes in FN QLD are designed to withstand catergory 5 cyclones. Hopefully that's not tested mate. Look forward to seeing you at the W.H. Lowe Rally.
Luckily 'Tony did nothing, this fella is at least 3 times bigger than Larry which caned the coast and tickled the Tablelands in 06.Yasi is looking to hit the coast at Cat 4/4.5 and end up on the Tablelands as a 3.......................we,ve not had one that high. Good to hear your car is safnsound. Good drive back?
Thanx. We,ll just have to see how it goes. Just came back from giving a mate a hand and his wife is in a dither, really upset. It,s still 24 hours minimum from really knowing where it,s final direction is going to be. Looking forward to the Lowe and the trip down as well.
Hi Simon, Good fortune to you, batten down the hatches and keep safe. As for the Ferraris, I thought Caboolture ended up under water, or is Marc ok and above the Plimsol mark? Cheers, Grahame
Thanx,Grahame,The Ferraris' are fine,as is the property that FINALLY settled yesterday . The cars will be going to the 4 bay shed there.
Mate I think we,ll need ALL the superhero,s you or your mates can find. Last projected is 1am Thurs morning.
I wish I could send my friend Captain Chaos to assist you guys! Take care now brother!!!!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wind is now gusting up to about 40-50 knots. No real rain at present. Some of you may have seen Lateline....it was about a 3 hour time delay.
