Hi guys, New to the forum, Need some advice, I have my car outside on the driveway as my garage is being refurbished. Do you guys have any ideas on how to connect the charger without leaving the door open. I have it connected at the moment but have done so by leaving the window slightly open. With the wet weather I am worried about moisture affecting the car. And generally just intrigued as there must be a way. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
LOL, do you keep the door open when you connect the charger??? Just run the cable under the door and close it. The gaskets on the doors won't harm the cable
The owners manual says to run the cable from the plug to the charger on the bottom/front edge of the passenger door. On my earlier 458's there seemed to be a small indention right in the front corner of the horizontal-vertical door edge.
Both comments above are correct, it's safe to close the door, it doesn't damage the cable, but if you're concerned slide the cable all the way forward to the slight indentation as mentioned by waterking. Jim
Thank you guys I’ll post a photo shortly of the stupid lengths I have been going to LOL Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
And have a look at the many previous threads here about the same question .... Good luck with your new car ! Show us pics please ...
Woow ... nice 458 ! Where about do you live ? Please fill out your data (under your full name) it eases discussions. I am from Holland in EU ... Your current current setup must be O.K. but can be easier if the tricklecharger is used and outside the 458 as described. Outside unit in plastic bag under the car ... in that case no need of large platic sheets and tape ... Quicker to get going ...
Yes, and CTEK 7002 is weather resistant to begin with. https://smartercharger.com/battery-chargers/#CTEK%20Multi%20US%207002 Get a rubber bumper for your CTEK, too. (Thread cables through the openings and stretch it around the unit.) https://smartercharger.com/?s=Bumper&x=26&y=0 Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Thanks I’ll get onto that my mains socket is quite a distance away from the car hence the long yellow cable. I have just tried getting the ctek cable to the end of the door as advised above and the door closes fine. All I need now is maybe a waterproof extension cable. Thanks everyone Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Ive just had the car PPF’d all over coverage and will put up some photos when I get the ceramic coating put on. Maybe a seperate topic Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The only thing I would add is make sure that the cable runs from the front of the passenger door. I ran mine out of the middle of the door and it melted the side sill!! On the first day I had the car... ouch.
Hi, have my 458 Speciale parked in an underground garage, with no access to a socket. I need a battery booster pack that I can bring along to charge battery as the battery drains within 2 weeks due to tracker. Any ideas on the appropriate external battery booster? Thanks Mike
