Hi, so two things that I learnt today
    1) don’t put your battery conditioner on the ground behind one of the rear wheels and
    2) don’t reverse out of the garage before unplugging and moving the said battery conditioner…
Ask me how I learnt these two valuable lessons ‍♂️

We are all human and accidents do happen.

Even more important is that now you can buy an aftermarket battery maintainer and upgrade.
I purchased a NOCO unit and the adaptor from one of the members here on the board and love it. The kit even lets you mount the unit on the wall, out of harm's way and always visible. I can now check the status from across the room..

Have fun with your car and your new maintainer.
Hopefully this will be the worst thing to happen to you for a long time :)

Many thanks…. I do have a CTEK and magnetic adaptor, as the same style of connector is used on the new Aston Martin Vantage, kicking around in the garage but I will take a look at the NOCO unit as I have not come across those before

You can get additional connectors at https://www.cccharger.co.uk/product-page/ctek-ferrari-magnetic-connector for the CTEK. My 458 won't turn on when the battery tender is connected and puts an error on the left TFT screen, I wish I could say the same for my wife's Portofino M (only broke an extension cable fortunately).

I have this one and like it. Just bought an adapter cable from sfcarguy here on forum.

How did this happen? I thought that the car won’t start when the battery charger is connected.

I think he has a 488? Haven't had mine on a tender yet but I'll let you know if it won't start when connected. Missed you at car week buddy!

Cars with magnetic connectors no longer have third pin to signal connection. So you can start and move car!

    Hybrids won’t do this however.

Well I just learned something new today too!
I didn't realize that the 488 can start with the charger attached. For some reason I assumed that the 488 would be the same as the 458, and not start.
Now I know that I have to be careful, and not rely on the car to save me if I forget.

Hi the car is a 488 Spider and it certainly started with the conditioner plugged in, although it would be a good safety feature if it didn’t…….

Hi, yes I’m pretty sure that there are only two connectors and not a third…

HI many thanks. I purchased my magnetic charger lead from cccharger a few years go for an Aston Martin as already had the CTEK for a previous car. Yes, it’s a shame that the 488 doesn’t have the same feature as the 458……. :)
