I haven’t used my car for 6 moths. The battery is dead, the key is stuck, I can't pull it out, I used my other key to try to open the trunk, but it looks like it won't work. I can’t recharge the battery from the front because I need to open the rear trunk to unplugged the battery maintainer (didn’t maintain the battery charged this 6 months).

    it’s a California 2014

    any ideas?

If your carger won't charge from the boot, why would it charge from the front?

Are you sure the door isn't just stuck due to the seal? When the window does not come down, it does require a bit of heft to open the door.
When you use the key in the door, it is a mechanical lock, so unless the lock is broken, you should be able to get in - that is what the lock is there for.

There's a trick to open the trunk with a regular key. It is difficult, but doable. Do you have your manual? I think you have to push down on the trunk and turn the key at the same time. You may need someone to help you. Use a mirror so that you can place the key properly.

Yes, push down on trunk and turn key simultaneously. CCW if I recall correctly. If the rear trunk key on the 14 is as awkwardly positioned as in my 2011, it is easier as a two-person job...T

FYI, sounds like your battery is shot. Best advice is to get a new one. A tender or maintainer only keeps what "juice" is in the battery. A weak old battery will only give you more demons, i.e. error codes and issues opening the top. Make sure you get one that is right for your car. It's money well spent!

You can open the trunk manually by left hand push the trunk down, right hand twist the key CCW. I felt like I'm going to break the key.

I never had a modern Ferrari so I was a little scare at first. This thing has way too many electronics comparing to my older classics.

I just went to the whole ordeal on my new acquired 2011 two weeks ago. Battery was weak to begin with, I couldn't start or open the gas cap and trunk. I jumped it with a lithium battery pack, the car started I was able to do a run to get gas. Next day I had to jumped again since it wouldn't start, this time the car would start but the TFT displayed air bag fault (bring into dealer). The third time I tried to jump the next day and call AAA tow truck to bring it to the dealer, the car would start but this time EPB locked up (emergency parking brake) and transmission P is also locked up. Both of those warnings were displayed on the TFT. I told AAA that I will need tire dollies since the car won't move out of park. AAA came out but once the driver saw the California he refused to touch it and left. I guess it's the liability.

I wanted to change the battery myself since I did a lot of work myself on two 308 QV and a Dino Fiat spider. It looks like you have to take the large plastic engine cover and the whole air intakes with a special tool to remove several large clamps. Also I had doubt that the three error messages on the display will go away even with a new battery unless I have a ODB to reset it. So it was time to punt. I called Randy at RMT motor sport since last time I had a major done on my QV, I saw Randy worked on newer F cars.

Couple days later RMT Motor sport sent out two techs with a new battery, special tools, ODB and was able to clear all the faults on the computer and the California was good to go. The tech also reset and now gas cap and trunk will open when pushing the buttons on the floor mat. They wouldn't open before even with the car running.

I digged up and read all the threads on Cali about dead battery before calling the AAA. Don't know if it's true but some Fchatters think the Ferrari issued trickle charger is junk. Some recommend Ctek charger. I used Battery Tender 4AMP that I bought from Costco and it seems doing good. Also don't jump the car at the battery end with the Ferrari trickle charger plug in in the trunk. Some recommend drive once a week and plug in the trickle charger. I hope this help.

When you get everything sorted and a new battery installed, get a CTEK MXS 5.0 battery conditioner. It’s expensive but well worth it. It will keep your battery charged properly and efficiently, and it has a reconditioning mode to be used once or twice a year. I keep mine hooked up continuously when I’m not using the car. A battery that seems fine and will start the car but is slightly below full charge will cause all manner of problems.
