As part of my trying to square away my 456 GT, I want to remove and, to the degree possible, disassemble and clean the battery disconnect switch, to make sure I have the cleanest contact possible.

Can the switch be disassembled, and if so, how?

Mine is the round switch with two posts for the cable terminals.

    Thanks.

    Follow up:

I took the switch out, and saw that the turning rod is held on at the bottom with a clip.

Removed the clip and slid the rod up enough to access the interior; sprayed a healthy dose of electronic cleaner in there, turned the switch on and off to clean the wipers, then put it back together.

I was surprised at the amount of oxidation / tarnish on the bolts on the switch and on the cables themselves where they attach to the switch: cleaned them with a wire brush.

i hate mine. i plan to go back to just a plain cable. the thing frequently fails and i have to whack it a few taps with a hammer to get the car to start.
