    Hi Guys-
    Battery question for fellow owners.

I have a 2020 V12 Lusso that has an in service date of 11/19. Since it was delivered, the car has always been on the factory tender, and I have had no issues whatsoever. Car has 7k miles now.

Just took the car to the local dealer for the annual maintenance and they told me the battery was critically low and they wanted to charge me $1100 for a new battery and $600 for "diagnostics". They said that it was within spec to have the battery to need to be replaced at this point, but they would be willing to do an overnight "Deep charge" and see if it would be ok.

What say you guys? Seems fishy to me.

Does this look like your service department?

No way. $1700 for another crappy Ferrari battery is nuts. Replace with Interstate. The diag comes with the annual service. Car should still be under 3-year bumper-bumper till 11/22. Should cost you nothing.

There was a thread discussing Lithium Ion battery replacement for the 812, look it up.

Longer life, much lighter, holds a charge way longer, smart features like auto deactivation/reactivation and battery health monitoring. A straight upgrade IMO.

I change my FF’s battery every two years as these are consumables on a V12 Ferrari.

The straight AGM replacement SLA for the original is about $200, no matter which brand you buy. $1100 for a Ferrari approved battery is daylight robbery. And so is the $600 diagnostic charge given that it takes all of 30 seconds to run a CCA check on the battery.

It’s time to take your business elsewhere.

The price is objectionable especially with the extended coverage. With that said- the battery is something I change in my V12 Lusso about every 2 years.

I seem to change battery every 3rd year or so... btw I think the heat under the hood is what is killing the battery...

Aha - yes now I remember - great research!

I can also add that the last battery just lasted about 2 years: I have been driving a lot more round trips Stockholm - Oslo, it is about 1300 km on each round trip (520 km one way, and of course I use my FF locally in Oslo - why should I not? so a few extra km....), and we did 5 trips within well 4 months after covid restrictions was removed. Those trips alone killed the battery. After each +500 km trip the whole car is really warm, and well the battery can never like that.... So yes maybe I should say 2-3 years top before changing battery....

There could be a difference in design? Each car has its own weird quirks. I would suggest to replace the battery now, before it gives you trouble.
