Work makes me travel quite a bit and I don't drive my 458 for weeks at times. I have had my car almost 8 months now, and about a month back my car didn't start after not being driven 2 weeks.. The dealer suggested I charge the battery with the supplied charger.

Now this has become a recurring issue that even after a week of not driving the car, the battery drains out.

Is this normal and anyone else face it?

And can I leave the charger plugged in when the car is not being driven?

    Or a faulty battery?

    Thanks.

there must be 50 threads in the 458 section on battery, battery tender and starting issues...might be worth a read through

    short answers

    1) the 458 battery, and moreso the continual parasitic drain by the car (alarm, ECU's, et al) will cause your battery to drain down
    2) this car is very sensitive to low voltage/weak batteries - not starting is just one issue
    3) yes, use the battery tender, especially if the car is going to sit for a while
    4) if your battery has been depleted a few times, you should have it tested; fully depleted batteries usually struggle to regain their performance. The tender is NOT a charger
    5) normal? only for a Ferrari or other exotic. Typical? yes
    6) FWIW, most cars will struggle with this if left to sit for a while, the modern Ferraris more so
