I am currently tracing a very annoying noise/resonance coming from the battery compartment. A great video on changing the battery in the 488, it is a lot more involved that on the 458. This video shows a hardware difference, the triangular foot rest bracket is missing from my car and not in the parts manual. I have a 488 GTB also August 2018. RHD Either the RHD version is different or they made it easier on latter models as mine . We dont have that plate below and our secondary positive cable is to the side not in front of the battery. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Out of interest I have looked at the part lists for the 488(US) & 458(EU) on eurospares.co.uk and it is not listed anywhere. As you say, perhaps it is now obsolete.
