So I left the keys in the 997 overnight and now the battery is dead. Eventually got into the trunk and now I have access to the battery. I've tried charging it and starting it and it's just not working. How long should I leave the battery charging thing on there?

Do I just need a whole new battery?

    how old is the car?

you may need a new battery.

FYI be careful hooking it up, I fried the ECU on my old 997 doing that...

    It's an '09 so 2 years!

We jumped it and I took it for a 30 mile drive, got gas and it started up just fine again. We'll see if it starts in the morning.

    Thanks! :)

Hahahahaha... :) it was an accident?

If it is an OEM Porsche battery, you probably cooked it.

On a second note, if you DO decide to leave your keys in the ignition again, pull the key out until the lock cylinder clicks and then slide it back in. That turns all the computers off in the car and won't drain the battery. The computers won't turn back on until the key is turned to the run position again.

It will take a good 5-6 hours to charge enough to start if the battery has any life left in it at all.

    Hope that helps.
