After 3 days my brand new Optima battery won't start the car. I have a new CTEK that I have not been able to install yet. I moved the car out of the garage to wash it on Tuesday and it fired up just fine after sitting for a couple of days. This morning it was a no go. The pump primed when the door opened and the interior lights came on. Once I pressed the start button all I got was clicking and all of the dash warning lights. It kept defaulting to CST as well. I need to charge the battery when I get home. Can I leave the battery in the car? Do I need to disconnect it? Do I need to shut off the switch in the boot? The car is all stock. No aftermarket electronic components. What might be drawing power? Thanks. 2007 F430.

You can leave the battery in the car, and you don't have to shut the battery switch off. Wait until the CTEK turns green of course before you try to start it.

Sounds like the battery went entirely flat, perhaps a door was left ajar or radio or parking lights on? The battery might not have been in a fully-charged state when you installed it also.

Personally I'd disconnect a fully discharged battery before attempting to charge it.

Maintaining a battery while connected to the car would appear to perfectly safe however.
