That will throw the weight distribution off.

Henry- The Z06 brakes are six pot front, four pot rear Brembos a lot like the uograde people put on Maranellos. They work really well.

Woody- The 575M has a 48 valve V12 with 515 hp from 351 cu ins compared to the Z06's 505 from 426. Some serious engineering there, in the F1 system, and in the aluminum body. They are both well engineered, but not comparable. Especially in the interior.

maybe for the street....everything i've read on some of the vette and scca sites - guys say they are garbage. i've been toying with getting a T1 vette as a warm up for my entrance into F1 - and the scca vette guys have serious brake issues to the point that it is outright dangerous and an upgrade to the z06 brakes is not considered an acceptable solution..

You should see the killer brakes on the Disney Princess bicycle with training wheels I have been struggling to assemble in my living room the past hour.

Given the cold weather and storms passing through here in the past few days, I thought I'd bump this thread. It came in handy!

My question is that I didn't do the start/stop sequence Terry pointed out in the service bulletin. Should I bother doing that sequence again, or just drive her?

    Thanks!

Wade- The 575M and F430 both have the same Motronic 7.1.1 DMEs. Here is what the F430 WSM says to do and it will probably work for a 575M, as well. Ferrari tech data is an evolution.

This reset sequence should be done by every new owner of a pre-owned f1. It's a good thing to know.

TAZ, in your notes do you happen to know if the FF or F12 batteries are the same size as our 575 ? Looking for alternative insulation/shield options

No, Sorry. My shield is missing with no ill effects over 15 years. My batteries last around 7 years without being on a charger.

My shield needs replacing but with Fabio headers, I might as well see if I can repurpose another / better one given my bay temps are definitely up

I’ll do some digging and post what I come up with

Mine has Fabio headers, too, for the last three years.

I also keep replacing batteries about the same schedule.

    Incidentally, the OEM F12 FIAMM is an L3 70 AH, 760 CCA unit. Dimensions are 278 mm L, 175 mm W, 190 mm H, or 10.94" L, 6.89" W, 7.48" H. The AGM battery MT7-34R is the equivalent by interstate.

    34R Group Size
    MT7-34R Part Number
    800 CCA
    1000 CA
    115 minutes RC
    10 13/16 L
    6 3/4 W
    7 3/4 H

Bought an MTZ-34R at Costco about 6 months ago for ~$180.00 USD, perfect fit in 575 at a good price!

Also what did you tell/ask them to buy the battery? They say the 575 isn’t listed in their database here locally (or on their website) and there is no option to select by a size rather by car model.

IIRC, just told them the Interstate AGM number and gave them the old battery, no issues. Battery is perfect fit after removing or moving surrounding stuff; it a bit heavy and a bit of a PITA to get in place but no big deal. IIRC, it was easier when I was 69 rather than 79.

The AGMs like the MT7-34R batteries do require longer J hooks. The ones for the wet batteries like the Fiamm and old Interstate MTP91 are too short.

I went with a MTX48-H6 (AGM) on the 575. Less of a height issue, OEM matched CCA. Still undecided on the 456

    Specs:
    MTX48-H6
    Cranking Amps: 950
    Cold Cranking Amps: 760
    120 minutes RC
    Width: 6.94
    Length: 11.0
    Height: 7.50

    For comparison:
    FIAMM VR760 (OEM)
    Capacity (Ah): 115 (min.)
    Cold Cranking: (A EN): 760
    Charge: Wet
    Dimensions (mm): (276x175x175) 10.87”x6.89”x6.89”
    Dimensional Group: L3B

I figure the extra power and warranty on the MT7-34R was worth the trouble of longer J hooks. One of my FChat buddies gave me a pair.

Honestly at this point, I think it’s a tossup on availability and price… hence why I am still undecided for the 456m

Given the location of the battery in the 550/575. Consider Antigravity, much easier to maneuver weighing in at 18lbs.

Heavy Maranellos batteries are a real pain to change unless you are a weight lifter.
