    I will be out of town for six weeks and thinking of getting a battery tender/tricker for my 2000 456 GTA. I would like to seek your advice on which type(s) and brand(s) should I use and whether it is ok to charge via the cigarrete lighter. Thanks.

    I use the Ferrari one that I got from Ricambi in my 355. Seems to charge great through the lighter. About 140 or so, which is more than the cheap ones from sears, but it does have the Ferrari logo. I leave it plugged in all winter.

    Based on advice I got here in F-chat, I picked up a battery tender at WalMart (not a place I usually go) for under $40. While I was waiting in line at the cashier, some guy walked up with a Toshiba HD-DVD player that was on a one-hour special for $98. LOL, I got out of line and got one of those, too.

    It uses alligator clips for quich connect or rings for semi-permanent connection to attach to the battery terminals. As for the other info, it cost $18.44 at Wal-Mart. The brand name is--quite a coincidence--Schumacherand it called the "Battery Companion." Box reads: "Fully automatic battery charger maintainer with float-mode monitoring. 1.5 amp slow charge" Hope that helps.

    Thanks. However, I am looking for the one that could be charged via the cigarette lighter as it would be more convenient.

    Found this company on ebay and realized they are selling the same charger as in Ferrari's dealer. Bought the charger and the cigarrete lighter adapter for about $85, almost 50% less than Ferrari dealer. Received the items in 2 days.
