    Hi guys,

I am wondering how a bettery vent hose for Interstate MTP-91 can be installed in the 360? Is the hose already pre installed, or do I have to purchase the hose from Intersate battery and install myself? How long is the hose and where does it vent outside?

Can you please provide a step by step instructions as I do not see it in the manual, nor can I find anything specific on Fchat. Posting your pictures would be helpful and appreciated.

I know some of you guys recommend Odyssey battery, but since the car is up north in Canada, I have to deal with cold winters, which I need higher reserve capacity and CCA output, which is why I need Interstate MTP-91 instead.

    Thanks.

can't address your question specifically - but wanted to emphasize the need for a clear and open vent hose. saw pics of a 360 that burned out due to an 'exploding' battery.

when i pulled my battery - the vent hose was kinked over and closed off.

    lesson learned:
Check the vent hose and make sure it is clear and open!

You can re-use the vent hose from the previous battery. Look at the present battery. It will be obvious where the vent hose gets plugged in.

What about dry cell batteries like Odyssey PC925? Does it need a vent hose?

No. Regular lead-acid batteries need a vent because the recharge cycle generates hydrogen. If you remember what happened to the Hindenberg, you'll know that accumulation of hydrogen in a closed environment is not good. Dry cells like the Odyssey are more like the batteries in your laptop or battery operated electronics. Different chemistry. Odyssey batteries are signficantly smaller and lighter, and since they don't depend on a wet cell environment, can even operate upside down (though not something you'd want to do in a car).

I went to double check the car and found the black vent tube being hidden among cables. It was not attached to the old battery, so I didn't realize it was there as it was stashed among cables. Now that my problem was solved, I can proceed with the battery purchase and installation.

Odyssey PC925 is a dry cell, but it is more ideal in the warmer temperatures. it does not have enough CCA and reserve capactiy to deal with colder winters up in Canada, when it is in winter storage. That is why I had to get Interstate battery.

Thanks guys for all your replies.

    Good Job!
That bit of preventative maintenance may have saved your car from becoming a burned out hulk!

truly a pleasure - I am a total newbie to the 360 and just picked up that one tidbit of info. I'll no doubt be asking for your advice on other more complex things as well!
    best regards,
    Vincenzo
