I know there are many, many threads on trickle chargers and battery issues. Having looked through all of them though there are no mentions (other than changing the battery for a better type possibly?) of what the best way forward is if you can't use a trickle charger.

I live in an apartment with underground garage and there are no AC outlets. I can try to park near to one of the exits (up a ramp) to use a solar one but am not convinced I will get good enough light for this to work.

I'd prefer if possible to change the stock battery for a much better battery - ideally which can last upto 1 month without charge. I intend to drive the car regularly but can't guarantee I'll do so every 3-4 days. Anyone had same issues and success with changing battery for a better UK available model?

Wasn't there an extensive thread about your car and this already? Seemed to be lot of good ideas there. If it wasn't you than there was a guy with the exact same problem from the UK a short while ago.

I'm fully aware of that - but as stated I'd already tried searching by "battery" "trickle charger" "battery and garage" etc but could not see any threads re those without access to power for a trickle charger (or indeed without sunlight for solar version).

Anyone care to comment and/or provide me with the relevant link?

Xander- There are overkill batteries like the Odyssey, but I am not sure they are available in the UK. Attached is a document I put together aimed at US Ferrari owners.

You probably want an absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery. In the case of the Odyssey, it can take numerous discharge cycles and still come back as good as new. What you might consider is an AGM battery and one of the rechargeable battery packs you can keep in your apartment. If the battery does run down, disconnect the battery with the disconnect switch and attach your recharegeable battery pack for a few minutes, disconnect, turn on the battery switch, and you are ready to go. Will not affect an AGM battery, which can be recharged over 50 times from an 80% charge with no ill effects.

I'm with Taz, get an AGM if you can afford it. I have the Odessey, which they sell under the Sears Platinum brand name as well for $200. The Sears version has the terminals in the opposite locations that Ferrari requires (Sears only sells the Group 34 size), but on the F355, the cables are long enough to reach anyway. That may not be the case on a 360/430, meaning you must find a proper Group 34R version...rather than the more common Group 34. (I know these numbers are American designations, and may be meaningless in the UK ;) ) (the "R" stands for 'reverse terminals')

If AGM is too expensive or difficult to find, the next option would be to find a "deep cycle" battery of the proper size and specifications (at least 700 CCA). It may not hold a charge any better than a regular battery, but they are at least designed to be deep discharged regularly, so constantly running it down will not kill it like a regular battery.
