this is an old thread but my wife recently heard about bsg from the howard stern radio show b/c hes a big fan. we have been watching the dvd of 1st 2 seasons and really enjoy it. its very well done and has something to keep both guys and gals interested.

we used to watch 'lost' but its become a never ending series of mysteries without answers. anyone else compare these 2 shows?

Unfortunately, I don't get the Sci-Fi channel up at school, but I love watching it on DVD when I'm home.

I'm a huge LOST fan as well Spiderman, even if they never tell us anything! I actually prefer all the mystery because it keeps me watching.

I enjoy BSG and for the most part I think it's really well done.

The only other current show I bother watching is LOST, and while I still enjoy it, I'm starting to get the feeling they're getting close to pulling a Twin Peaks, i.e. being weird and confusing just for the sake of being weird and confusing; bordering on pretension over substance. I sure hope I'm wrong.

I love BSG! Fantastic writing, good acting and a very dark overall tone yield great TV. Excluding HBO stuff, its the best show on TV.

Its funny because when I tell people how great BSG and recommend they watch it 99% of the responses are negative. People remember the old show from the late 1970s and think this is the same sort of thing. Well, the new BSG is NOT a nice family show. In fact I would not allow my 8 year old to watch it. It is a very dark and sophisticated show that deals that is definitely on an adult level.

Oh..... and Starbuck is a hot chick.

Best series on TV. The only one I watch! Best acting! Best script--very complex interplay of human relations! I hardly notice the sci fi setting because the story line is so engaging.

I have been saying this is easily the best show on TV, until this season. Not enough action, too much political intrigue and emotional drama. Hardly any Cylon confrontations.

An excellent season finale. It makes up for the past seven or so episodes.

I was really starting to get sick of the 'Days of Our Lives in Space' episodes. This is supposed to be Sci-Fi, not a soap opera.

Oh yeah, duh, forgot about that. I figured they were going to kill Calley off, make her a terrorist. They hinted that she was.

    Final season? Promise? ;)
    (That, and SGAtlantis.)

Go to Best Buy or Blockbuster and get the DVD box set of "Firefly".
That's the show Fox threw away.
Then see how impressive the shows Fox keeps seem.

Caught the latest one last night. It was pretty good and in the end I was not sure what the hell was going on. But they have been pretty clever about that in the past so I have high hopes!

That's the way it is with soap operas. It's about the activity, not the story.

Anyone old enough to remember the *original* Outer Limits would see what happens when you get SF on TV written by SF writers, not by soap opera directors. (Look at the writing credits on the original Trek.)

Any show that begins, "Previously on ...", is just another way to fill time between commercials.

If you can't tell the story in an hour, you're just talking, not story-telling.

Since Fox took over SF channel, *every* show has turned into a dope opera. With computer effects.

They might as well call it, "All My Alien Children".

i liked this new twist on 4.5. been a fan of BSG and Atlantis for some time. i am so happy Sci FI has full episodes on line. i like watching them when i have time, and not when its on tv.

Well, there was only two ways for this thing to end, and I suppose they chose the 'happy' ending.

That rippling on the Galactica was a great piece of effects work.

Decent overall, and a good place to stop. I will, of course, be watching "The Plan", but "Caprica" is a pass for me.

"The Plan" does look good. be a neat way to still fill my BSG fix too.

Henry David Thoreau would be proud of them, cast the remaining fleet into the sun, and casting off their technology to start anew.

their "alien" colonization if this "new Earth" makes you wonder a bit about our own history!

i still am not happy with the whole idea of sending the fleet into the sun. seems like a great waste of technology and resources.

also not sure how they would be able to work the land and hunt animals, as any tools or weapons they had would be alien, and would / could be found later as proof they existed and predated the planets "normal" evolution cycle.

also, who the hell would give up the space / aircraft to stay stuck on the ground all the time, i would fly and explore the place! :)

i did like it though. i would have thought Galan would have held it together for the greater good, but guess not!

they gave the base ship to the "good" centurions. i wonder if that will come into play in the future....

and ps : why were the Centurions on the Cylon Colony the "old school" classic ones? seems like they would have evolved or been updated like the others.
