It's not a joke tool, it's real and looks like a Ferrari tool. Romano - I have been searching through parts catalogues and wondered if it could it be the tool for the ring nut on the timing chains on the 400/365GTC 4-am engine - item #28 on the parts diagram below. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Dino and BB have different plug spanners. Only slightly different, but different nonetheless. I will see if I have both in stock and will take photos for comparison.
that could be simon. it is long ago I did a complete 365GT4, 2+2 engine ( I think it is the same as the GTC ? ), but I can not remember anymore right. may be in the 365/400/412 section someone knows? but I was reading sometimes also in other sections and only found a very few technical stuff postet there. not like here in the TR section
The tool in the kit is a spark plug extension removal tool. You pull off the spark plug wire, and because the extension in in a "well", it is difficult to remove with needle nose pliers with out damaging the part. This tool is placed on top of the extension, and then you unscrew the extension, in order to gain access to the spark plug. No Tee handle is needed, as it unscrews easily. Gary Bobileff
The 400/365GTC engine is the same design as the 365GT4 2+2. It is several years since I rebuilt a 400 engine but I think that this might be the for this nut. Certainly the TR/Boxer and the Dino sections have lots of technical stuff compared to the 400 section. The 400 section used to be busier 5 years ago. I will post some more questions to liven it up
this tool here is never for spark plug or soemthing else like this. it is a tool for a nut with 4 "grooves" in it. question only is for what nut and what engine or car?
I never said that the ring nut tool was a spark plug related tool. I was answering the original question in this post. In order to identify the application of the ring nut tool, you must first give dimensions of the tool. Gary Bobileff
gary if you would read the complete thread you will see the dimensions in post no. 19 and if you would read the post no. 2 I already have written about this spark plug tool, but it is not such a tool
Gary: You read very well! You were the one who provided the answer to the first question. I knew it was related to removing the spark plugs, but had not figured out it was to ease the removal of the "extensions". Thank you, by the way, the Jarama is doing great, took the last drive before winter yesterday, car ran perfect. Bill Borum, the man who "restored" the car in Phoenix, works for us now, so everything has come full circle.
