I have a 1982 BB512i, s/n:42213 which has a little over 18k miles. The car is in excellant condition and runs and sounds great with its Ansa Sports exhaust. It has been brought back to euro-spec and runs and looks like a Boxer is supposed to look. I love the car and drive it at least once a week. However, here lately I have been hankering to get another front engined V12 model....and no I can't keep the Boxer too. I have owned a 330GTC and loved it, but the price of a good one of those has risen a little more than I want to pay. I want to be able to trade even or sell the Boxer and buy for the same amount or less. I like the 250GTE,330 America, 330 2+2, 250 GT PF coupe and 365GTC4. Which one would you guys recommend? I still don't know if this is what I really want to do right now, but I would like to see what is available in the price range I want to be in.

Come on Frank, step up to the plate!

Sell the Boxer, call JJ Best and take out a small loan, and buy a Daytona!

You know you want one. You know it wont go down in value and will probably go up. You know the interest you would pay is meaningless and you would payoff the loan within a year or so anyhow, so just do it!

    Why accept a substitue?

While I don't dislike the Daytona, it is not my favorite of the vintage front engined V12s. I would much rather have a 365GTC4 or 250GTE than a Daytona.

Terry is right. DAYTONA! I drove one for the first time and loved it! It was a rush! More engaging than my 360 Modena (which I now have for sale to buy a DAYTONA! :)

Here's a 6MB video clip of me driving it through a tunnel - crank up the audio!

If you're gonna get a GTC/4, just go ahead and get the Daytona - they look somewhat similar and the GTC/4 is a pig to fix... Very poor design...

    Right. And pigs fly.....

I know you better than that. Seriously, your trolling skills are really falling off. You used to be able to keep folks going through a whole page of posts. Now your attempts are becoming transparent.

My car will be back together and looking like new within a couple of weeks. We can take both our cars for a drive. Well see what you say then...

I do like the Daytona just fine and would like to own one. However, I do not want to spend more than I get out of my Boxer. So, that narrows my choices down and the Daytona does not fit in that criteria. And, I'm not 100% sure I even want to change cars anyway as I really love my Boxer...it is just a thought I had last Saturday when I saw all those vintage American cars at the car show...I said to myself....self...you used to really love your old 330GTC...maybe its time to get another front engined V12. Plus, the C4 is the absolutely best sounding road car ever produced by Ferrari or any other company for that matter and they are in the same price range as my Boxer.

Ok, i've watched this um, a "few" more times... It sounds - as the passenger, himself, stated - glorious...

    i have a few questions...

Steve, any way you can tell me the serial number of the car...?

Is that you driving...? Is Ryan Alexander the passenger...?

It's a Euro Coupe, early model... The hand brake warning light comes on in the video - is it just not working properly...?

Can you post any pictures of the car...? i'd love to see it...

    Thanks... :)

That looks like the tunnel on US 1 in Fort Lauderdale that runs under New River, about six blocks due west of my house! Am I right?

You guys are amazing! Yes that's the tunnel in ft lauderdale. The car is a euro model#14201, I am driving and Marc Sonnery is the passenger. I'm the one who said glorious. As much as I love the sound of my 360 Modena at peak revs, the Daytona is f$%#ing amazing!

The brake warning light is on and will have to be looked at. The brakes did work just fine, but when I reviewed the video I shot later, I noticed the brake lights weren't working, so perhaps the warning light was doing it's job? I've attached a few pictures I took of the car.

Get a 365 GT4 2+2 then. Same engine as the C4 and you can pick one up for low 20's. Hell, you can almost justify keeping the Boxer at that price.

    I know, I'm not helping. :D

How about getting a 330 gt series II, using some of the money left to bring it up to paltinum specs, and use it often with the knowledge that you can carry friends, and luggage, in comfort. Bank the rest. You do not have the thrill of the Daytona, but if you city drive you will be thankful.

330 2+2 is a blast. 330 America with a later 5 speed box would be even better.

One thing I've noticed recently while driving my 330 series 2 is that as many women (including young pretty ones who were not around when these cars were new) notice the car as men. The usual comment from women is: nice car, what is it? I think this means they think the car is pretty rather than just a status symbol. Also, I've never received snotty comments while driving the car (except a couple about my driving), which seems to be the case with the more flashy angular cars.

PS. if you want driving excitement, buy a 1970's VW bus. You will be at the limit, fearing for your life at 45mph!

If you dont want to afford a Daytona, then keep the Boxer. It is a great car, just right for the buck (and all paid for). The C4 is a mechanical nightmare, and those other cars dont look real great to me. It is amazing how people always want a car they dont have and yet the one you have is a great great car. Keep it, drive it in good health, and to heck with those cars you mentioned. Not worth thinking about trading them.

How much do you think your car is worth, by the way> Just curious. As you well know, mine is up and running great these days with not a single problem any more. I dont want to sell mine....just curious.

I wouldn't trade my Boxer for any of these cars including a Daytona, even if prices were similar.

Of the front engine road cars excluding the racers my favorites are the 275 and 250 California, I do like the Daytona also.

I would hold on to your Boxer Frank they are on the upswing, some in Europe are asking 130k Euros- $150kUS for them, Boxers will have their day in the next 5 years, the were a revolutionary car for Ferrari the first mid-engine road car excluding the Dino which was not recognized as a Ferrari at the time and one of the most beautiful Ferraris ever and they have the proper V12.

They are a nice mix of classic looks but still have excellent performance and handling and are the last of the completely hand made Ferraris also.

Steve, thank you very much for both the information and the pictures... It's a glorious-sounding car - no question about that - and it looks like it, too... :)

My experiences are very similar to Art's. I love the smiles and thumbs up I get when driving my 330 around town. I get a surprising amount of "Nice car" comments from men and women alike, and never a word of contempt.

250PF Coupe is the way to go. A real front engine V12 GT car and a price you can trade straight accross and get a fabulous car. Also the greatest Ferrari sleeper out there today.

I will probably hang on to my Boxer a few more years. I just have a hankering for an older front-engined V12 every now and then.
