I'm sure that Fangio, Nuvolari, Caracciola, Ferrari, Clark, Senna and many more champions of the past are turning in their graves to all stupid attempts of reinvent this classic of classics racing car formulas and stubborn attempts of changing rules every year. The 333 sport prototype was an Alfa Romeo creation and Ferrari never went to anybody to develop any car, at most he had his friends Sergio Scaglietti or PininFarina "dress up" some of his sport cars. And the open wheel cars are not a problem the problem is the people are governing the sport the financial interests involved and their incompetence. Driving an open wheels car at the speed of 200 miles plus takes that Spanish people call "cogliones" that neither Ecclestone nor Mosley, unfortunately, have.
I love F1, but frankly I would love it even more if Ferrari became officially involved with ALMS. Then if the ALMS would cover all of America, meaning from Brazil to Canada that would be incredible. Once could only dream.
The 333SP, not the T-333. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_333_SP http://auto.howstuffworks.com/ferrari-333-sp.htm FOM *is* the big problem with F1. But given the same engines and weight, a closed fender car should be much faster than an open wheel, due to better aerodynamics. http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=108770&f=6
FOTA and FOM are business organizations that can negotiate and reach an agreement. The FIA is a sporting authority that insists on interfering in the commercial aspects of the sport. Get Max's ego out of the mix and things will progress more easily.
