    That was classic.
MS knows exactly who the enemy is; his team-mate. Thats who you are compared to.
Always has been. Always will be.

"But the colossus Schumacher who bestrode F1 prior to his first retirement has not yet reappeared."

    Or hows this thoery;
Michael is just as fast as he always was. Just that the car is not up to speed AND Nico is a better driver. Better that MS in his old days.
    Wrap your head around that.

Nico is not a better driver and Micheal is almost double the age. You are comparing a 42 year old to a 25 year old? Its pretty pathetic that Nico Rosberg is having a hard beating an old man. If Nico was that good the gap between Micheal and him would be similar to Vettel and Webber. Out all the teammate wars, MS and Rosberg are the closest. MS is not the driver he used to be. I find it hard to believe that you can win 7 world championship because of luck.

I agree with what Brundle said on the BBC before the race. After 6 yrs and over 100 races Nico is not where some thought he might be.
To me he is more appearing to be like Heidfeld in a way, if slowly. Journeyman as Coulthard put it. He needs to really shine soon. Hopefully the Mercedes will allow this. If not his stock goes down.

The car sucks, LH and Alonso would not come close to winning in that car.

I'm glad you made that statement.

Some die-hard MS fans on here would not even concede this, which really is an insult to the man: If you think that the 7 times WDC from 2000 is the same as the guy now driving in the MB then you're basically saying that an average guy like Rosberg could have won many of those titles if he had had the Ferrari of 1999-2005.

And that's simply not true. MS is no longer the driver he once was. Not accepting this, is belittling his record.

I always enjoy reading articles offering proof a new driver has limited capabilities. This generally occurs when said driver enters F1 against a veteran and doesn't crush them viciously during their freshman season. Saward naturally mentions the first year Nico entered and acquired dismal results when he faced Webber. Uh-oh, the kid can't be top notch since he was outqualified 12-6 and outpointed 9-4. Guess we can't argue with stats and potential.....except to mention Reutemann similarly manhandled (actually to a harsher degree) another questionably skilled rookie.

I do accept he is not the driver he used to be, however with MS talent, given the right car he can stilll win.

LH and Alonso may not come close to winning, but I guarentee they can get on the podium. Something that Nico has not even come close to this year. Actually MS has come close twice this year to a podium, one in Canada and the other in Monza.

He's certainly not the driver he once was but Nico also isn't the driver he needs to be and they are both saddled with a lackluster ride. I still believe that MS is capable of winning races in the right car and that Nico given the right car still doesn't quite have the mental fortitude of MS, Vettel, Hamilton or Alonso.

Almost as much of an achievement as Nico last year when he actually put the car on the podium three times. ;)

I don't think anyone considers Rosberg to be on the level of LH and FA...

I know, he would have had a podium in Montreal if it wasn't for DRS. He's gotten 4th twice while Rosberg as only managed a 5th place this year.

As for MS, if you consider him to be the same driver he was when he was 30, you are kidding yourselves. However, what he is doing for age 42 is nothing short of spectacular.

So that means Nico is getting slower, because he really sucks this year. Last year he scored double the points MS did and this year he is only 7 points ahead. MS would be ahead if he did not have the two DNF's at China and Singapore.

Agreed, but MS has so much talent that even at the age of 42 he is still one of the better drivers.

Believe me, nobody wants Michael to finish ahead of Nico more than me (;)) but it is what it is.....

Yeah I know, I am bit dissapointed because there were several races where MS took the POS Mercedes and fought hard with Hamilton, Button and Webber, which all have superior cars. Something Nico failed to do once this year.

The old man still has it! As I've said before, Nico remains something of an unproven entity - Had he "dominated" Michael this year I'd cut him some slack but he hasn't.

Hopefully, Ross and the boys will do a better car next year and Is and I can once again double the bet..... [Getting expensive if I lose again though! ;)]

    Cheers,
    Ian

What exactly is double double or nothing ? Quadruple or nothing.......? After Shoe's recent impressive showings, I may not be inclined to put everything on hold for year three of our bet....;)

Well I guess therein lies the rub, doesn't it?

To paraphrase Clinton: It all depends on what the meaning of it is.

CRG125 thinks the guy had talents in spades so that even after some is lost to aging, he still could win.

I truly believe today's F1 is so competitive that MS can't win against the best of them (Vettel, Alonso, Hamilton) even if sitting in one of their cars or just the RB. I see him now at the level of Weber. Good for an occasional podium if sitting in the best car. Not good enough to beat the top 3.

    As for Nico vs MS:
So far it is 2:0. As in two seasons. You can measure that by points, by qualifying positions or by podiums. And I'm pretty sure in a year from now it'll be 3:0.
