BBC to lose F1 coverage

So blowing up caravans, dropping caravans from a great height, jumping caravans over a line of vehicles, (and that's before starting on the non-caravan stuff of similar ilk) aren't dumb stunts and not childish and stupid?

If it gets rid of even one of those slow moving, road blocking, congestion causing, annoying pieces of crap off the roads then no it's not: "childish and stupid", it's exactly what every motorist who has ever been caught up in a 4 mile queue of cars stuck behind one of those God-awful contraptions on a summers day doing 25 mph wants to do to them! - Why can they not simply pull over and let the more sensible people of the World who do not tow caravans around with them, get on with their lives?

Caravan owners get a perverse pleasure inflicting the misery of their sad holiday on every person on the road and holding them up! Anyone caught towing a caravan* should have their driving licenses taken off them and their caravan burnt at the roadside!

(*NOTE: Of course, there are a certain type of caravan tow'er in the UK that simply cannot have their driving licence taken off them because they don't bother to get a licence in the first place! [See the movie "Snatch" for further reference! Of course, you could still burn their caravans at the roadside [if you're brave enough to try it!] ).

So, getting rid of caravans - Another service the BBC will no longer be providing the public alongside no longer showing F1!

 

I'll bet those stunts didn't take a single caravan off the road, they will have been caravans that were no longer on the road! And the caravans were only an example of the many infantile things the programme got up to.

Do you propose to shot cyclists as well ?

 

No,no,no no!

Cyclists are fine so long as they obey the rules and Laws of the road! - And that means stopping for red lights for a start off!

However, I do think that when it comes to the myriad of Neanderthal cyclists who think it's perfectly okay to cycle on the public roads at night, in the dark, in dark clothing, with absolutely no lighting on their bicycles whatsoever, one of two things should happen:

1) The Police should have the right to immediately impound the bicycle and then sell it on, whilst the numb nuts cyclist gets a £1000 fine for being such as dumbass!

Or

2) Motorist should have the legal right to mow down cylclists at night with no lights fitted to their bicycles as they are obviously too stupid to be allowed to live, based on the theories of Evolution and self preservation!

(Where applicable), they wouldn't dream of driving their cars at night with no lights on, and yet they happily climb aboard the most vulnerable vehicle on the road in the dark and think it's fine to have no lights fitted - let alone fitted and switched on!

If you're too stupid to have lights on your bike in the dark then you're too stupid to live! (Darwin would back Me up on that one I'm sure!)

(Obviously you will find cases where motorists have hit a cyclist who actually did have light fitted and working on their bicycles and have then tried to dispose of the lights! - What can I say, no system's perfect! )


I'm sure if more cyclists with no lights on their bikes were legally mown down on the public roads - Far more cyclists would then make sure they had lights fitted and working!

LOW AND BEHOLD!: Evolution in progress! - Cyclists come to realise that in order to survive, they must change the way they do things!

And coming back to caravans:

We have an awful lot of Apache gunships sitting around doing nothing - They could be used to take out caravans as they drive along the roads! It would be great, real life practice for the pilot/gunner!

(We should also use Apache gunships to stop stolen cars fleeing from the Police rather than just filming them! How many people would still steal cars if they knew there was an excellent chance that they were going to have the s:censored:t blown out of them! - Literally!)

Yes these solutions are a bit extreme! - But by the same token, they would work!

Flop Gear? Give The New Top Gear Hosts A Chance - Loaded

Your desperate attempt to look funny is wasted on me.

 

Clarkson and co managed to identify the things that the average joe in the UK found annoying, such as caravans, cyclists, speed cameras etc, and make humour from them. Some of the humour extreme, such as blowing up caravans, and some less so, such as merely taunting cyclists....

Evans brand of humour is schoolboy at best, and involves ridiculous jokes only morons appreciate, and slapstick so-called comedy of the ilk of pies in faces, or tying shoelaces.

With Sabine Schmidt, at least there will be a good driver on the show, and Chris Harris, well he knows about cars on the whole, but will it be exciting - doubt it, will it be boring - almost certainly, will it be as popular as top gear was - slim chance

 

So who writes the scripts and comes up with the ideas for the show?

 

It probably won't matter - hopefully they will not be trying to replicate the previous programme. It would be nice if they get rid of the childish nonsense and give us a proper motoring programme!

 

Sabine Schmidt may make the new Top Gear worth watching for me. I must confess that Chris Evans is not my cup of team.

Sabine Schmidt, I saw her as a guest in a few programmes on TV. She is entertaining and has a good sense of humour too. And yes, she can drive.

 

The last version of Top Gear wasn't intended to be a serious motoring programme.
This is where Clarkson was a genius; he tranformed a mundane car programme into an entertainment and increase tenfold at least its audience.

Top Gear was watched all over the world, and I was amazed that even in the Middle East, Clarkson had a lot of followers. Plenty of people are glued to the screen to watch the programme. A "proper" motoring programme don't get that kind of response, proof to me that what you call "childish nonsense" entertains many.

 

Well I'm wondering because maybe Clarkson and co were just the puppets for other people's ideas. If that's the case then anyone could do it.... Within reason.

 

Clarkson and his friend producer Wilman came up with most of the ideas, including the stig.

 

In that case, he could certainly be a serious loss

 

You should grab a copy (Kindle version worked for me) of 'And on that bombshell' from Amazon. I just downloaded the free sample, but am about to buy the whole thing. Looks like it's a good insight from one the producers whose been there forever.

And yeah, initial impressions are that Clarkson is very much one of the 'creative minds'.

Is Willman still involved?

A bit of fresh blood might help anyway. I thought it was getting a bit stale.

 

Willman has gone as well, working with jezza on the Amazon show. Believe me, Evans will be a totally different type of show, and as much as I would like it to continue, I think he will destroy it for most current fans, yet no doubt, replace them with his own demographic (17-35 males on their way home from the pub inebriated, certainly if you were going to watch TFI Friday)

 

I'll watch if it has Chris and Sabine. Obviously it will be a much different show, but has potential with that line up.

 

We'll just have to wait and see. But, hey, anyone who doesn't like it can still get their fix of Clarkson, et al on Amazon.

 

I agree. And many people watch Eastenders, Neighbours and the like and enjoy them. Whatever floats your boat, as they say.

 

Yup. I'm sure I will watch both.
