Stunning model, but I still can't understand why they charge that amount of money for a
sealed model! I almost bought the yellow version but then I saw CMC's Bugattti 57SC Corsica Roadster for the same price. No-brainer!!!!!! Yes it's a completely different model from an other era, but I couldn't resist all that detail!

I totally agree. I love these BBR models, but I have to draw a line somewhere and to me it's just not justifiable to spend that amount on a sealed model.

BTW I also found a picture of a blue one with wire wheels.

IMO... If you are going just display them behind glass or plastic then why does it matter if they're sealed meaning no doors and hoods open vs the other Diecast models that do?.. You're not going to play with them or are you? BBR puts a lot of quality and details in their models.

Well, true, but there is so much more detail with open models. This one being closed and at this price range makes it difficult for me to pull the trigger on it. CMC needs to step in and make their own.

BBR models are a rip offs. They are beautiful, and high quality pieces. But so are GT Spirit resin models (I own models of both brands) and they are only 69 Euros each. Quality of GTS is same, if not better, than BBR. We are paying for the manufacturer name, fancy base, and Ferrari license. I simply refuse to buy BBR anymore.

Your also paying a premium to know you have something that 20000 others don't.

I don't think that plays such a big part. I don't know how many examples GT Spirit produces of each model, but I do know that Otto also builds models in small quantities (something like two to three thousand), yet their prices are a fraction of those from BBR.

If that's such a determinant factor, I'd rather that BBR produces them in larger numbers than they do right now, to keep the prices lower.

p.s. I've got nothing against sealed models (I have a few), but not at BBR's price point.

Doesn't look too much better than the Ertl I've got now... (jk)

What's the MSRP on these? a couple of hundred and I might be in for one... but being BBR, I suspect it's somewhere at or above $400... for $400, I'd rather have the CMC 312... even if the rivets are a little on the large side...

Also just keep in mind that most of the low and high end diecast manufactures who product 1:18 Ferraris don't produce most of the rare Ferraris but this is where BBR and other manufactures who produce resin kits pick up the rest of the market share, so technically they have their place.

And… if you want that one-off rare Ferrari replica model in your collection, then you have to ask yourself, is the price of owning a closed model is justified or not... It’s all about preferences "What's in your collection" sorry couldn't resist making that statement :). For me I like BBR's Ferraris, but not too thrilled about the prices at times... and ... I do respect other collector’s opinions on this touchy topic.

Most GT Spirit and Otto models are limited to 2000. And they do not release like 10 different color variations of each, usually just one, or two colors max. I have never seen them re-release a model in a 3rd color yet.

Like I said, BBR are great models, exorbitantly overpriced for what they are.

Why can't they get the variations right ? The blue car in the first post they are calling a 1965, has 275 gtb short nose mag wheels with a 275 gtb 4 cam hood. For this price they should get the grill, wheels, and hood correct.

Yeah, I too didn't want to go there as well, but what’s wrong with the nose, wheels and hood? Can you show some examples of the real car vs. the model? Please educate us! I compared the model to reference pictures in books and I can't see any discrepancies... or did I miss something?

In red the model is supposed to be a replica of the 275 that was shown at the 1965 Paris Salon. But that real car still had the short nose and no bulge on the bonnet.
One could say that it's really a 275 GTB/4 (which only came about a year later in 1966, also at the Paris Salon). But with the earlier wheels (Starburst).
