How can some of these companies expect to do business with the global economy! I can see I will be spending many hours to complete what I said I would! :(

Talking to Darth last night, we both agreed that there is a huge potential for this service. The company that I am doing this for is beyond appreciative of my time to clean up their verbiage. They understand the value of having proper English on their website.

Pete, did that English stop you from doing business with them? Did it stop anyone else? Unless it's a core sales and marketing tool for the enterprise, the language on the website is not critical. Certainly, it should not be terrible, but it's not a priority for the business to polish it and its translation(s).

Since we're talking about cleaning up language and using proper words, you're misusing verbiage. Verbiage, (or 'verbage', as my old boss used to say), is the cluttering of a sentence or thought with superfluous words. For example, all of my papers in high school were written with verbiage, since I always fluffed them out to meet a minimum length requirement. Buzzword loving corporate America has hijacked the word. What's funny, is that most corporate mumbo-jumbo actually is verbiage.

ROR!!!! Velly velly fa neeeee. :)

On a more serious note, as I hinted at in closing last time, there is a happy medium between exquisite, delectable pearls of wisdom and Engrish as she be spoke and spelt.

Incidentally we have a gem of a writer on this board...our very own Wax. I am not talking about the sales-brochure type of writing, but the eye-popping, head-reeling, why-can't-I-sear-people's-retinas-with-imagery-like-that kind of writing.

Actually, hwyengr, verbiage has two meanings. It can refer to just the manner in which something is expressed. The other meaning is, as you say, an overabundance of words.

    PeterS used it correctly.

PeterS's use is an adopted use, created because of misuse. Check the definition in the OED. That's all that matters.

No dude, language is not written in stone. It evolves, changes, twists, and turns. Look at how the word *** is used now, and when was the last time you went to the haberdashery? As long as it's correct at the time of usage, it's an appropriate use.

Or we would be rewriting Shakespeare.

What the hell? If this was a black joke everyone would be jumping down your arse right now. Why do my people get to take this sort of crap and it's ok? Screw you, my family worked hard and gave up a lot to get where they are and the last thing they need is for their son to feel demeaned by some moron hiding behind a keyboard.
