Well, Stacy just let me know that he got word from the track that they are a go for the Asphalt Ventures event July 31st through August 2nd.

Thanks to a few construction delays, this event was up in the air... But now you could be among the very first (literally!) to drive this fantastic new 2.5 mile track! This will be the grand opening event - no others will have driven the track prior. Check out their website at www.drivebluegrass.com

For details or to register, go to:
    www.asphaltventures.com
    or
    www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/event.advert/uidEvent/477DA722-A2F4-AAA3-C76DCB9D99F7D3C0

Make no mistake about it, as some of you already know Stacy and Asphalt Ventures puts on a great event with gobs of track time and tremendous value.

I'm going and hope to see many of you there!! :D

    Cheers & C U @ d'Track!!

I was supposed to be the first to race at Bluegrass, but they missed that deadline by a country mile.

    Yep.
Looks like they've finally gotten past the "High Rock Syndrome" though and are on track (pun fully intended) to make the Asphalt Ventures event.

Come on up and get some recon time in for when you do actually race there!

    Cheers & C U @ d'Track!!

Stacy let me know today that the Bluegrass event has been postponed, indefinitely.
The track has not given enough updates on progress for him to feel he can guarantee the high quality that Asphalt Ventures is known for, as well as take the hit on the block of rooms that the hotel will evidently charge at least one night for if not canceled by tomorrow.

So... As much as I hate to say it; this event is NOT going to happen when scheduled.

I'll post an update or new thread once he gives me a new date.

    Cheers & C U @ d'Track!!

Yes... unfortunately (I know LOTS of people were so looking forward to this event - especially me) Stacy's got an insider who reported that there's been NO movement towards completion of the facility in the last two weeks, and Brad from the facility has not called Stacy to inform him what's happening. Stacy's standards are among the highest, if not THE highest in the DE industry for delivery of an event. If the facility is not exactly as promised, he feels like he's sorting the participants and would rather reschedule the event than short those who paid to be there. That's just how he is... I've worked with him several times to deliver clinics and schools - I can vouch for him on that. Like I like to think I am, he is definitely an under-commit, over-deliver kind of guy. Bluegrass wasn't ready two weeks ago but promised they would be; and since they've made no progress at all in those two weeks, Stacy's not willing to chance it.

He also can't afford it, as apparently he has a huge block of rooms reserved that AV is responsible for at least one night if canceled inside of 20 days. That's a big chunk of change if Brad calls today and says "sorry, we're not going to make it."

So, in light of all that and some other details, the event really is postponed until Bluegrass can prove that they are ready to host an event.
Sux, I know... But it does speak volumes about Asphalt Ventures integrity and commitment to providing their customers the best experience and the highest value. Better to cut bait and recast when the fish are ready.

    Cheers & C U @ d'Track!!

Even though the window for online registration has closed for this event, if you are interested in registering and haven't already done so, let me know and I can put you in touch with someone who can get you in. I spoke with Roc (the event coordinator) recently and found out there are still some slots open in all three run groups (as well they could use 2-3 more instructors as a security net, if you're an instructor and interested.) There will be LOTS of track time at this event, as they have limited it to 3 groups (not including Instructors), each getting 4 or more sessions per day.

Single day sign-up is an option as well.

    Cheers & C U @ d'Track!!

OOPS - IN A MAJOR WAY!!!

I am truly Sorry all!! I was indeed meaning to post on a different event...

I've been out of the office a lot with little keyboard time and in haste updated the incorrect post.

I was referring to the National Corvette Museum event at New Jersey Motorsports Park's Lightening course. Looks like I inadvertently clicked on the wrong post in my list.

The Bluegrass event is indeed canceled.

Again, please accept my most heartfelt apology for any/all confusion.

    Cheers & C U @ d'Track!!

Just got an email this morning. Was supposed to attend a PCA event at Bluegrass at the end of August. It's been canceled. Does anyone know what's up with this track? Is it going forward? In foreclosure or for sale??

Don't know - haven't heard a peep since we they weren't ready for us.

I know at High Rock, the first $680K buys controlling interest in the facility. I have been holding off on updates that I've gotten from inside at High Rock until I get some more firm answers... In the words of Byrne/Heads: "Same as it ever was... Same as it ever was..."

Sad to hear....but not surprising. Racetracks are not exactly a lucrative investment right now, especially with all the delays and setbacks they had.
