Just picked up our F355 spider from a customer who frequently beats the hell out of our cars... Everytime we get a car back the rear wheel area is covered with rubber dust, his driveway looks like the start of a drag strip, and the police tell me about reports made by neighbors of a red Ferrari spinning donuts and doing 100+ on quiet residential streets... Today picking up the car I find the right rear wheel cap is missing. I called Wide World since we have a car going to Queens anyways and I would have the driver pick up the cap on the way.

Sorry about the long story but is it common for the caps to come out or was this most likely due to his driving?

You should sue him for that wreckless abuse.

I've never had a cap come out, so, I can't imagine what you'd have to do to the car to make that happen.

Don't you measure tread depth and bill accordingly?

We do not measure tire wear and I expect the cars to be driven hard anyways. If the car came back with bald tires then there would be an issue with the customer. The guy used a tank of gas in 152 miles... That's another clue he wasn't just cruising the highways at 70-80 as he says... I'm going to purchase a GPS unit to see what some of my customers like him really do with the cars. So far he has been the only problem renter. I don't want to burn a bridge with him because he rents at least once every few weeks. I think I will just push him to take the Vette each time...

I would suggest getting Car Chips from radio shack or somewhere else online. GDC uses them to track speed, rpm, throttle position, lateral G's, and all sorts of other information that can be used to make a case for abuse against a customer. They only cost about $20 each and plug into the ODBII port on the car. they come with a USB adapter for a computer.
