i see you have been researching after we talked at dinner last night:) What do you think the reserve is on that car? Beautiful interior but probably very hard to keep clean.

Still in two minds per our discussion. - :)

    But this one's a C2. I'm biased towards the C2S.

    Lovely color nonetheless.

I'm in the market for a C4S: my dealer told me yesterday that in summer 2007 a facelift of the 997 is due. The S will have app. 400 BHP. Therefor I'm waiting for the new one.

Agree. Mid-cycle facelifts are due for MY08's, but that's still a full-year away. I doubt that the C4S' will be changed, though, as that was introduced a year ago - any thoughts from your dealer?

If I was getting a pcar, I would def get the 4 over a non 4. The added benefit of AWD is such a huge plus. I was def looking at the c4s when I was shopping around for the RS. But I really wanted something with a trunk:)

My dealer told me the facelift is for the all the 997 range ; also the 997 TT.
I agree it will be a full-year away. Tomorrow I have a appointment with my dealer: For the time being I trade my Cayenne for a young used 997 S, and order ( if already possible) the new 997 4S.

I agree: AWD is for daily use a big plus! And the wide-body is beautiful! For the trunk we have a Beemer Touring ( 5 serie)

    Guys,
I had a 645 (black) that I "liked", just never "loved" it. Great car but not for me. Very boring. Loads of electronic glitches. LOADS. Actually John (Pchop) told me to watch out for the glitches. I traded it in a few weeks ago (after about a year) for a black on black C2S Cab (997). I added headers, mufflers and an air intake (all fab speed). I estimate that I'm at about 390HP. I love the car. Sounds great, looks great, performs great. I bought it until the 997 Turbo Cab comes out. Which is what I really want, but I never liked the 996, so the 996 Turbo cab was not an option. I think for the money, Porsche is still a great buy/deal. Yes. It does not sound like a Ferrari, even with my mods to it. My 1989 328 GTS still has a deeper, louder exhaust. And my exhaust is stock on the Ferrari! But the 997 is a huge improvement for Porsche. No other Porsche built previously to the 997 can compare to the interior or the exterior. From the fit and finish, the red calipers, to the wide body, to the dash. Porsche has a winner. I did consider the SL55 but with less trunk and no back seat, it just didn't work. Great car though. I read in Wall Street Weekly a few weeks ago that Porsche has sold more 997's in a 12 month period then any other 911 previously. Thats impressive.

By the way, I think the C4S isn't worth the money. I use a truck for the winter (Yukon Denali). The extra weight of the AWD and the heavy front end because of the AWD doesn't make it a better car. Also, becase the car is low to the ground, your not driving it in the snow. It doesn't transform itself to an Audi with the AWD.

I have to drive it daily, also in the snow! I'm surely not driving my Ferrari in the winter. And my wife needs the family-car to go to her practice each day.

You should talk to guys with a C4S (not the dealer, unless you have a relationship with him) and see if they are good in the snow/ice. Maybe the 997's have been improved. I had a neighbor that had the 996C4S which he bought for that reason. When the snow came his car was only usable when the flakes just started to fall and the temperture was stll 32 degrees. When its colder and the roads are not good, its useless. The first snow, I remember my neighbor couldn't get up his driveway (2 inches of snow!). When your pleasure car is a Ferrari, and you live in a place where the winter is a real winter, like the NE USA, then a true AWD works better. If your depending on the C4S to get to work, figure on calling in sick many days if its a bad winter. besides a truck (which I hate), the only other option is the Audi S4 Cab with Blizzaks for the winter. My Ferrari gets used very seldom (17 yrs old, 20,000 miles). My C2S is my daily. If my ferrari was a 360 or 430, I would use it much more, but my other car would be the Audi not a C4S. If Eric (993 guy) is out there, ask him. He's the resident P expert. Knows much more then I do. Hope I'm wrong.

    Thx for your opinion.
I went to the dealer today; there was a misunderstanding: he thougt I was looking for a new Cayenne! So he didn't know anything about the facelift: sorry!
I got the 997 TT for a test drive: awesome: what a accelaration ( 0-200 Km/h in just 12 sec.). First I was looking for the C4S but now I'am thinking about ordering a 997 TT!

The only facelift that I know about will be the turbo Cab. I couldn't see Porsche doing anything drastic after 3 yrs. Maybe some minor tweaks. The Turbo Cab still has the 996 dashboard and those headlights. The dashboard is cheap looking (among other interior parts). My wife has that dashboard in her Boxster. What I hear is that the 997 TT Cab will not be out for at least a year. So I will wait till then. Porsche dealer that I know is taking deposits on the 997 Turbo Cab. I'll wait till the spring after they come out and pay sticker. I'm not in a rush and not paying above sticker for a car that many will be produced. I don't play that game. Did you ask the dealer about the about the benefits with the C4S? If you want a coupe turbo, consider the GT3. Thats if the AWD is useless.

When I went to the dealer to check out the C2S, the one I drove did not have the sport exhaust. I hear that the sport exhaust has a good sound to it. The stock exhaust is crap. Not that much louder then my 645 was. So if you get it without the sport exhaust, you must get an aftermarket exhaust. I'm talking about the C2s or C4S. The turbo's exhaust is a different animal. Since you have a Ferrari, you have to hear the exhaust. Expect to pay for the exhaust, with headers, mufflers, air intake about 4 grand but you will have about 40 more HP. Much of it being felt on the low end. You are ruined for life because not too many cars sound like your car. Especially when you own a 360. I too have driven the turbo, and was shocked at how fast it was. Got out of the car with a smile, ear to ear. Very fast. Great bang for the buck when you consider what other cars with similiar performance cost. The sticker on the C4S must be 10 grand more then mine.Thats pushing you too close to turbo and Gt3 prices. Decisions...Decisions!

Your 348 isn't an everyday driver. The 997 is.

Very true! I also looked at the GT3 ( for the price a very good car). But it is to close to the Ferrari: not for daily use. ( for me!). Btw what is the price in your country for a 997 TT?! In our country ( the Netherlands it is € 191.000,= without options incl all taxes, that is app.$ 230.000,=.

About $130,000.00 for the turbo Coupe (higher when you start adding things)
About $100,000.00 for the C2S Cab
About $110,000.00 for the C4S Cab

These are staring numbers. Add options and you could add up to $10 grand per price.

In the States the Turbo Cab (997) will not be out for another year or so. Only the Coupe is available. Unless you want the 996 Turbo Cab. Its still being sold by dealers. I do not know your currency but my prices are US Dollars.

Wow. I just noticed that you wrote the US dollars. $230,000 for a turbo! That is approx $100,000 more then the States. They are great cars but not at that price. They wouldn't sell at $230,000 in the States.

Those prices are due to the taxes. In fact the Netherlands have one of the lowest net price in Europe. For this reason many english customers are buying there cars in our country. Just looked it up in my brochure. The net price is € 117.296 ( about $ 152.000) And €75.000 ( $ 90.000) for our government

    Here are some prices:
    Ferrari 430: € 196.748 = $ 236.000
    Lambo Gallardo € 208.636 = $ 250.000
    645 ci ( now 650 i) € 106850 = $ 128.000
    Porsche 997 gt3 € 154700 = $185.640
You see every car is expensive over here! But the most expensive country in Europe is Denmark!
