Yes, it sure is pretty, but apparently this guy is very shady. I believe his MO is to list cars that do not belong to him and then try to broker a deal if he gets a high enough price. The no-reserve auction is always pulled before closing and then the car pops up again and again. Fishing. Often the cars are replicas, but he neglects to make that clear.
Reminds me of http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/other-italian/438093-fiat-simca-8-a.html Wonder if the same people will chime in.
I am sorry.. I wanted to ask.. What do you mean by shady? Does he work in the shade in some dark storage room? Maybe he just doesnt like sunshine? Whats the problem with that? You make this kind of statement but.. youre using an alias! Isnt that shady as well or thats ok? I heard someone was looking for a Tbigs.. so I guess its you and that would be the reason youre hiding? Because it would help if you would make this kind of statement while telling us who you are so that we know what is going on. And what about his MO? I know thousands of traders who advert cars for the clients! Whats the problem? Is trading also shady? Or maybe Mo? Momo? Nickname for Mohamed?? I really hope that was no racist statement because that would be over the top..
those type of cars don't get sold on ebay and prices are usually way too attractively low...hence the shady description is quite appropriate. if it's real and legit it can be a $400-500k car.
AMEN!!! A well done replica would be fun. I am planning on putting together a legit 250f from scratch. This $100k Bull in the UK that one guy sells is obnoxious. Well done, but certainly not $100k. After research and drafting you could easily put one together for less than $30. Selling it for $50 would be more than fair for R&D..
And again.. there are thousands of very expensive cars that are sold on Ebay the same way. The trader is just using Ebay's bidding system to make business.. Of course the car won't go for 30000$. It's just a strategy. If you ask me, it s a great strategy as it is working.. Maybe it's too complicated for some of us..
The real failure wasn't the price, but the BMW engine. What a total let down. If you make a 250F replica, please try and fit a Maserati engine, even if its not the same as the engine in the original 250F.
Shoot first and ask questions later? Let me be more clear. There is no arrangement with the owners, i.e. they are not his clients, so good luck actually buying the car. He is very well known, and I'm quite sure it's not for his business acumen. But if you feel like sending him a deposit, then by all means please do. Good luck to you. Well done, ClassicAB. Well done.
sounds like classicAB is the seller. 11 post and defending a seller who doesn't actually own the cars. Wow. Let me go sell the White House then, take a deposit first and figga out the rest later.
I wish I were but I am not the seller.. You'd guarantee me the money from that sale would arrive on my bank account, I'd give half of it to you.. It is just that I don't understand why you need to talk down on people who you don't even know.. may them be the seller or the craftsman...
That's because if you have been hanging around here long enough, and with the amount of people watching these listings, patterns get noticed and discussed. Best, Jack.
It would be nice, at least, to see some period photos of the car. A barchetta like that is supposed to be built for racing, not to cruise near the sea in a sunny country. The engine looks like a proper 1500 OSCA unit (coolant injection on top) but what about the rest of the car? Again, if that car was built during the '50's, there must be a period photo somewhere. btw checking better the photos, I see that the engine is equipped with "common" Weber DCOE (the same used on my Gt Junior) which weren't still produced back then.
Hi my friend, I think you could be confused. Tthe engine in the car is a fiat-osca unit, not a pure osca mt engine. Along with the car this completes the picture, if you get my drift... RGDS Elad
