A couple of weeks ago I was asked by a friend if I would take his Daytona for the weekend down to the FOC UK National Concours. I thought about it for about one second and said yes! At least it gave me a reason to give my Dino a polish and off we went with both cars. It was quite fascinating following my Dino as I have never seen it on the road as I am usually driving, but it was very amusing to watch the pedestrians expressions as we passed with the Dino followed in close proximity by the Daytona. I took a couple of photos and it makes an interesting comparison of two contemporary cars with completely different styling. Dave Which do you consider to be the Beauty or the Beast?? A truly beautiful GTS, in majestic surroundings (and excellent Ferrari company!). I had a similar experience in 1986. I drove one of my Dinos to a friend's house to see his new Testarossa. I followed him to another location, and on the return trip, he drove ahead in my Dino, and I followed in the TR. We were in fast and heavy motorway traffic, and the Dino cut through it like a hot knife through butter! It's fun to see your car as others see it. It definitely positively reinforces the ownership experience! Fred
Very nice. Lovely cars. Thanks for sharing. Having driven the Daytona a lot the last several days, I know it is the beast of the pair. Only outdone by a narrow margin IMO in the beauty department by one of the pretties of all time.
i wouldn't say beauty and the beast, i would say "look at the ferrari and that car that is almost a ferrari...." all seriousness aside, these photo's cleary, once again, show how small a dino is by comparison. i love the looks, the lines and the utility of the design. there is nothing better than someone seeing a dino in person for the first time and realizing how great the design was/is.
Dave, Beautiful cars and photos! Is your GTS Grigio Ferro? Is the interior Rosso or Bordeaux? Fantastic combination which am considering in the future for my GT. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on a beautiful GTS. BTW, I think there is 2 beauties but only 1 beast. Tom
I also was surprised at the difference in scale. Just by chance I had my wife's S Class next to the Daytona recently and the size difference between those two was shocking. I can just imagine a Dino next to the Merc.
way old photo's that are so used in so many posts, i feel like i am pimping out a dear friend...... none-the-less, here is the size difference between my 360 and Dino.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sounds like reiterations, but Dino is lovely and beautiful from every angles. One can appreciate the total balance of beauty just staring at Dino, not even necessary to drive it to enjoy it. In reference to the size (scale), may I add another point, that is, how low profile Dino is in relativity. w/ smiles Jimmy
the Dino looks like a mini-car compared to modern Ferrari's..... i am glad to see them get back to a smaller size.... i love the 360< but when you get out of one and into the other, there is definitely a different feel
I've always felt that Dinos, while in the same scale as 308/328 Ferraris, clashed with their "flatter" designs. Dinos look more in harmony with 360/430 models, but are definitely in a much smaller scale, and therefore don't look "at home" next to them. Fred
