I've decided that in Guantanamo they alternate between waterboarding and asking prisoners to program Becker radios. The latter is a more effective form of torture.
I've given up for the moment trying to figure out why it won't recognize my various ipods when they are attached to the hardwire factory unit (i've tried the instructions, even tried it both as Ipod and Aux and neither works). I've know succomed to trying to use a Belkin device that broadcasts through unused portions of the FM waveband. Alas, I can't figure out how to tune to an unused station (e.g. 89.3); it only wants to toggle between strong stations. Anyone know how to pick "empty" spots on the FM spectrum? The instx manual is little help explaining how to tune the FM radio.

I gave up a long time ago. I just push buttons until i find something I like. Not sure who designed this radio, but he should have been fired.

I gave up after only a couple hundred miles and got an aftermarket head unit.

I see you live in NY.

The guys at F of LI hardwired my Ipod cable to my Becker unit......works great !!

Give them a call and bring it in to them.

Just keep it for resale and replace it. I know you'll go higher end than this, but seriously, you could do a Sanyo head unit with polk speakers and be heads and shoulders above where you are today. Your time is more valuable than this. Just pull the blecher and be done with it.

Now that's a good comparison - waterboarding versus Ferrari radio programming!! Glad to know I am not the only person who cannot figure out this silly radio. Fortunately for me the iPod connection works correctly because without it the last 600 mile trip would have been a beating

Is there no one out there that has figured out how to get the tuner to at least stop on an "empty" station? I can't believe how complicated this thing is. When I read the manual, the words are in English but they don't mean anything. This is driving me crazy. I know this should just go in to the dealer but don't want to be without the car until after the summer.

Maybe you can assign a button to an empty frequency.

Not sure how different your radio is from mine (6105). While in DAS mode ( upper right) I hold the middle button on for a few seconds for the radio menu to appear. Then hit "man" for manual entry of frequency. Next tune to an open freq, wait until the radio returns to its normal display -about 3-4 seconds and once on the normal display press and hold one of the buttons that you use to select stations until it beeps. That will lock in that frequency.

Of course, (1) none of that will work if your radio is substantially different (2) may not work on an empty frequency. I guess give it a try

Thank you for you message. I think becker "improved" the radio since your model and accessing manual doesn't appear to be possible. Also, it gets better, there are no pre-set buttons like on your model. The memory function is there but you toggle to it rather than simply pressing a button for a pre-set station. My wife makes fun of me because the mini cooper ($21k) that we got rid of to make room for my F430 had a better radio.

Regardless, I appreciate your reaching out with the suggestion.

There is a thread on here about installing an iPod cable by unplugging your cd changer. The cable is from Becker auto sound in nj. The Cale was 100 dollars and it took me about 20 minutes. Best thing I ever did.

The crazy thing is, there is an ipod cable in the glove box already hard-wired by the factory. But the f**ker does not appear to work despite copiously following the instructions on how to set the becker. I think this is a job for the dealer and it'll just have to wait until the season is over. So the above thread responses were actually about a workaround: using a belkin over the radio. And that hit a roadblock as well. These cars certainly are charming....my Mercedes never did this to me.

    OMG LMAO!!!!!!!!!

I've been going through this for 6 years. As someone here said - I basically just push buttons until I find something that works or sounds good. Recently I REALLY tried to figure it out without finding the manual, and I got about halfway through figuring out it functinos, but am convinced this is either a sick April fools joke for all F-car owners (Especially early 360) or - truly advanced alien technology that sounds as horrible as it is difficult to operate.

I'm NOW trying to find the damn owners manual for the radio in PDF format or online somewhere and cant find it. Anyone have a link? I've used the search feature here AND went to the becker autosound website which OF COURSE - DOESNT HAVE THE OWNERS MANUALS in downloadable format anywhere that I can find.

Am I retarded? Is the owners manual really not on Becker's website? If I find a link to it I'll post it here if not if anyone has a link to owners manual I've FINALLY given in and decided to read it, especially since I have the CD changer which I've never ever used lol.

FOUND IT - Thank you Google. In one search/click I found it through Google, as opposed to 5 click-throughs on 5 pages at Becker's website (just had to track down how to find it) where you various new games such as "Click The Picture Of Your Radio". Thankfully I watched Sesame Street as a child and would have been able to play this game had Google not existsed.

Anyways here is the Becker Radio Owners Manual for many 360's - http://www.beckerautosound.com/pdf_guides/Ferrari_MexicoPro_GB.pdf

Here are some other radio's if that's not yours - http://beckerautosound.com/ferrari/index.html

Edit: I have now read the owners manual and throroughly understand the Becker radio. It's functions are actually quite simple, like just about any other radio, but are coupled with a goofy visual display and user interface designed by either aliens or practical jokesters. The manual has some very funny passages too. Instead of saying for example "To search through radio stations and preview each station for 8 seconds each to find one you like, press the right radio knob"....the manual instead reads LMAO -

"In the desired waveband (FM, AM or LW), press the right rotary control -
will be displayed. An automatic transmitter search is started. The first search is
performed on an insensitive plane, all further searches on a sensitive plane.
Receivable transmitters can be heard for 8 seconds. Press the right rotary
control if the received program should be retained. "

Really Becker? Should we be searching for alien transmissions in the 5th dimensional plane of existence? And then retain them if captured?? This isn't just some FCC guy who wrote this, this is outer limits Twilight Zone sh*t right here lol.

Trade that biyatch in- not the car, the radio. Read my thread on the head unit I installed. Last night, I took my wife to dinner in the car. She is not a "car" or "audio" person but she commented how much better the stereo sounded- she did not even notice , or would care, about the new head unit.

I spent less than $500 installed.
