Okay, I've pulled out the antique cassette player that came stock in my 360 and replaced it with a Becker DTM. I chose this model since it is a CD player, and the display is white, which is part of my grand plan to change the interior backlighting over.

Even though the radio specs show it as the same paltry output of 18w, it sounds clearer and brighter than the 15 year old factory radio, so I was happy--for a moment.

That moment came when I drove the car with sunglasses on--polarized sun glasses. Due to polarization of the glasses, when seated, the display is black. To read it I have to remove my glasses or tilt my head 90 degrees, which gets you some strange looks when driving.

This is simply not acceptable, so on to my next quest--a Becker 6112 out of a later 430, 599, or so on. I don't want to spend the money on a radio that gives me the same issues, so I need some questions answered. First off, I know there are literally hundreds of better radios out there, but I would like to keep the factory look or at least one in the same family for a replacement. Must be CD, must have AUX input for changer and/or iPod, Bluetooth and Nav are just extras. Prefer factory "Ferrari" radio. These are the reasons I am looking at the 6112.

Question is about the display. I'm assuming the display is still LCD, possibly TFT-LCD but I'm not sure. Sunglasses I'm wearing are Oakley's and all of them cancel the display on the DTM when viewed horizontally. If someone could possibly look at the display on their 6112 with polarized glasses and tell me if the display blacks out when viewed horizontal or vertical, I'd really appreciate it. Also, if you could tell me what glasses you have, that would be great too.

This is going to be no help. Thought my glasses were polarized but according to their website, they were not marked polarized. Tried them and 3 others and all were able to see the screen.

I'm near Austin (Bastrop) if you want to take a look for yourself

Same as Bob, my sunglasses aren't polarized unfortunately. Having said that I'd sell my 6112 if you're looking to buy.
