Anyone have any ideas. I am 5'9, 170lbs. Have plenty of energy, I am always on the go. I can not get rid of this gut. I have no fat anywhere on my arms or legs. just my stomach. Need a simple plan to help with my gut. I'm out driving all day for work and very hard to eat right. Need a simple plan =exercise and eating. Any help would be appreciated. I do smoke unfortunetly. My girlfriend says I have the energy of a 18 yr. old-- I'm 35.

Do plenty of crunches morning and night and don't miss a day and if your girlfriend's up to it ... plenty of sex.
Let me know full details of how the second suggestion works out for you

Cut out the smoking, it does a number on beer guts. Do cardio, but be sure to eat AFTERwards. That way your bodies energy level is high and will be easier to burn off any fats, etc.

Get some growth hormone shots. In six months you'll have a body to match the mind. Your bank account, however, will also be considerably lighter.

I was always under the impression that where your body stores its fat is a matter of genetics, and you can't do much about it.

At least, that's the myth I choose to believe. :)

Not a myth. Exercising the underlying muscle does not remove over-lying fat!

In ref. to the crunches, I did about 100 a day for 6 weeks straight and never noticed a difference. I know I don't eat that great, but trying to find a decent diet when your constantly on the run is almost impossible. I need a very simple diet and excercise routine. Everything I find takes an hour a day and an hour the night before planning the meals. I just don't have that kind of time in a day w/ 4 boys running around, working full time and a part time business to run. I never really cared about until my girlfriend made a comment that I should tone up my stomach. She wasn't being mean in any way, just told me the truth and I want to do something about it. To make myself feel better.

Run. Do alot of Aerobic excersies . Running, swiming, jump roping, etc etc. It should help. Also if you eat while your on patrol get something a little healthier than a greaseburger from Wendys get a Subway sandwhich and when you drink get a light beer instead of a regular Bud. Cut the carbs and calories and Run.

crunches...even thousands of them a day, can't and won't spot reduce your excess....except you will end up w/ a sore back.

cardio is the best way to tighten up and tone your bod.....(also watch your calories intake....cut down on the simple carbs). good luck.

    Gaylord,

I was in your predicament last year, and have dropped some weight. I didn't have the time and patience to spend hours on a diet and work out plan, so I did something very simple. THis has worked for me, and I am not a nutritionist or a Doctor, so take it for what it is worth.

    I don't drink any soda/beer/alcohol. I don't smoke, or drink coffee.

Breakfast: Oatmeal and a piece of fruit.

    Snack at 10:30am some carrots.

lunch--chicken grilled/tuna sandwich on a wheat bun with lots of vegetables fixings and no cheese.

3pm snack--some celery sticks or a little bowl of mixed fruits (not the ones you buy, just cut up something) or 1 orange.

    6pm dinner--salad.

If you are hungry, just eat fruits or some raw nuts. Eat many times, but small servings. Always, use water, and keep yourself dehydrated.

If you can do some aerobics. Crunches do help, but you don't need to do a 1000. Then again I don't know how big your gut is. I lost 2 inches of my waist line doing crunches. I do 80 when I wake up in the morning. 80 before I go to bed. 4 sets of 20 on the floor, no fancy gym or whatever. It has really toned up my stomach.

I am not a aerobics person, but I force myself to do 35-40 minutes of strenuous aerobics 3-4 times a week. That seems to help.

I will never look like F chatters Kuzi or Tom-F1 who are in male model shape, but I am happy with myself. Always will have a gut, but its under control, and not hanging 7 inches over the belt.

Changes in lifestyle come from within, there are no magic formulas. Do what works for you, and good luck. It is a tough journey (was for me) but the results are worth it, and your self esteem will increase and you will look great.

I find that stress helps enormously, unless you are the type to compensate by overeating.

    Try amoebic dysentery or liposuction.

actually I have similar challenges, I lost 10 pounds just by eating less bread, no late meals and more vegetables and fruit. make sure you eat on time.
I used to be a slave to my schedule, but I now I eat on time. under 300 calories per meal.

By cutting sodas and fast food you will notice a difference in one week!!

I'll take that as a vote of confidence.

OK, how about this: Increase protein, eliminate simple carbs, some complex carbs OK, hold down the fats, olive oil only, lotsa salads and low carb vegetables, water water, reasonable daily exercise - walking briskly or swimming will do and sex is also helpful to burn Kcal and relieve stress. Multivitamins if you want. No fast foods.

Eat 4-6 small meals a day instead of 2-3 big ones. The advent of three squares a day was a concession to the industrial revolution and not really in synch with human physiology. Eat the largest amount in the AM as highest rate of metabolism occurs between 6-11AM. No pills, magic potions, cortislim, shots, etc., etc. as none of that crap works. Patience and perseverance. Rome wasn't unbuilt in a day. A pound a week is 52 pounds a year.

If your mom and dad both weighed over 400 lbs, you've got a tough road ahead.

    Cheers
