No, seriously. Wife just left for the weekend. Beer or wine?
They won't let me drink my first love--whiskey--so when they leave, whiskey is what I drink. Whiskey! To hades with beer or wine.
My wife is out of town too. Start with a few beers, then just before bed, some chocolate and a nice Merlot.
If it was me, I'd drink beer. In fact thats what I'm doing right now. Unfortunately I'm drinking Labatt Blue (didnt have time to go to the distributor for good, imported beer) but I gotta do something to celebrate my last day of undergraduate mechanical engineering classes that I will ever have to take. Unfortunately for me I like them more than the general education courses I have to take spring term (trimesters) to graduate. Anyway, thats a little off track. Enjoy whatever you decide to drink.
Tim, buddy! T'aint nuttin' wrong with the Blue. In fact, if that's all you have sitting in the fridge you're doin' all right. I'm actually a fan of the Labatt's family of beers. How's school going? Any rowing in New Mexico?
Lotsa maltose in beer--a very glycemic sugar, thus the reason for the beer belly. Gotta say, drinking a whole bottle of wine by yourself feels indulgent, where drinking a beer is, well, just drinking a beer.
Let's say, hypothethically, you drink the bottle of wine, and then 3 or 7 beers. Where does that fall on your indulgence scale?
I'm going to go have a glass of wine now thanks to you guys. F-ing peer pressure. EDIT: made a decision, cracked one of my y2000 Antinori Santa Cristina sangioveses. Good motha***in wine, I'll polish off about half the bottle (god bless those little vacumm sealers.)

How far we've come! The Know-Nothings still rule, and the Irish still get drunk and disorderly on a regular basis.
Its true that most Labatts are good (blue light tastes too much like water), as are most of the Molsons (except golden, not a fan of that). As for school...its almost over (which is both good and bad), and when it ends so does rowing- as a college athlete anyway. Theres plenty of water where I am now in NY but there isnt too much of it in New Mexico where I now work over the summer so I had to buy a bicycle to keep me busy. Hopefully I'll get into grad school near some water (ie. Boston). If only they wouldnt keep me waiting so freakin long. I mean how long does it really take to review an application? So anyway, what'd you decide on? Beer or wine?
I had some Labatt's Ice once. Thought it was heavenly. Very sadly, gastritis prevents me from indulging now.
I pretty much lit myself up last night--I knew I'd be busy all day today painting. And today it was like the gods of my youth were f**king with me. First of all, it was 70 degrees and sunny all day. And everyone was out partying for St. Patty's day, since the big parade took place downtown today. Then, around 4pm, I kid you not a trolley pulls up in front of my house full of drunk chicks who all stumbled off and into the apartment building around the corner. About 40 of them, 75% hot, 100% do-able. I can still hear them screeching and yelling. Yup--a perfect day to stay in and paint the nursery.
