It's still hard I'll update when I complete the true 3rd week in a 9 days. I haven't really lost weight, but after my last big run, I killed my legs. Doing Back/ Legs yesterday and I wanted to wait til tomorrow to try my run again. That said, I'm pretty sure the reason I haven't lost is because I've gained a lot of muscle mass that I pretty much had not exercised before... I say that because I now need a belt on my 34" pants to keep them on. This time, I'll be armed with my new phone, and a gps app to give me some telemetry
I just got a smartphone and installed a gps app. First time I used it. 3.78 miles in 36:27 avg. Pace 9:40 per mile avg. Speed 6.22 mph 2,374 ft verticle change (up = 1/2) previous best was 39:30ish
I picked up some wierd allergy. Not sure if its food or dust. I break out in hives which are very itchy and somewhat painful and they come and go at wierd times. Now it seems to be going away and I'm on Antihistamines to keep it at bay The + side is that bcus I was afraid to eat thinking it would cause me hives I started drinking LEAN BODY Protein shakes which are tasty but more importantly I've dropped about 10 # in the last 2 weeks and most of it was fat so I cant complain too much I'm still not sure whats causing my outbreaks but I'm going to keep by Protein shake diet going till I drop another 20 # which at this rate could happen by New Years When I get down to 190# I'll post some pics up
Hmmm....something in the air I wonder? Or have you changed/added anything new to your diet other than Lean Body? I really like Lean Body shakes, but my god, Labrada prices his protein so ridiculously high I will only buy it on one of those whims when I feel like really mixing it up.
I just set up a nice new Super fancy air filter in my BR, going to get another 1 for the LR My allergy seems to be in remission which is great. I found a weak Antihistamine at CVS that doesn't knock me out all day like Claritin or the prescription 1 I got The great news is I'm down about 12 # now. My immediate goal is dropping 2# or 205 by Oct 31. Oct has been a bit rough health wise but I'm starting to feel better and I'm attacking the weights like a Madman My trainer is pretty impressed with the workouts I'm doing now Next goal is 199 by Thanksgiving and 195 by Dec 31 Ultimate goal is 175 - 185. Taking 35# off of me will help drop my lap times in my Z06 Too
Still not ready to post after pictures, but I have dropped 26 pounds and 4 inches off waist. Combo of low carb diet and HRT plus exercise...still playing around with exercise routine...
I don't know my weight right now; as my scale is still on "loan." I think I've dropped 10ish since my last photo, but I'm really not sure; as I've gained A LOT of new muscle in this time. I don't know if I'll be meeting my January goals or not, but hopefully. (190) With these upright stances my gut doesn't look so bad, but trust me, there is still a lot there. I'm a mediocre P90x student, but definitely ripping out the exercise videos one by one, occasionally skipping YogaX, and Kenpo X if I'm low on time, or exhausted. My woods course is down to 35:02, which is over 90 seconds faster than I was a month ago, with my .8 mile split at a rate of 7:35 before entering the woods. I still have a long ways to go, but I'm liking having so much more back, leg (plyometrics!), chest, and bicep strength Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I weighed at 240 in May after One Lap of America. Then lost 30 pounds to weigh 210 the first week of September, but currently weigh 220 after school picked up again. I'm inspired to keep at it, so I can look and feel like the twenty year old I am. The first photo is from May, and the second is a current one. Great continuous progress Isaac! Welcome to the board Wrenched. You're a brave soul for posting your first pics in your boxers. lol Stick around and become more motivated.
Nice progress all around. Wish I had something to report, but I'm still nursing a shoulder injury and I've become way too fond of alcohol in the past couple of months.
Yeah... I have had about 7 glasses of beer in the last 5 months, most of which was on my birthday... and a couple of other special occasions.
I don't drink beer at all, but I've been boozing HEAVY every Friday and Saturday for the past 5 months. Tonight might be the first night in half a year that I've been home before 5am. I wish I could stop drinking but...
Oh this thread is so great!! How come i didn't see this thread before, such a delight for a female. Keep the work up guys
It's been a year. Can't say I'm thrilled about my progress, but on that note I would be lying if I said I was 100% dedicated during the past 365 days. Also, I should be counting my blessings that I'm not 250lbs of pure fat. Yesterday was 5 slices of pizza for lunch, pulled pork sliders+poutine+nachos+tacos+quesadillas+deep fried havarti+crab cakes+6 gin and tonics+5 jager shots+3 beers for dinner. I agree. The problem is my damn triceps. No matter what I do they grow. I even stopped working them completely and they still continue to grow. They stick out so much and make my shoulders look small. I am focusing more on shoulders though. You're not the first person to tell me that, LOL. Nice work yourself.
Just saw this. I love CrossFit and recommend it to anyone looking to get lean. It won't pack on muscle and pure strength like conventional lifting, but it definitely creates awesome impulse power, agility, and metabolic conditioning. But most of all, it's a lot of fun so you don't get bored. My favorite has to be "The Bear": One rep = Power clean into Front Squat into Push Press into Back Squat into Push Jerk. One set = 7 reps without letting go of the bar or letting the bar rest on the ground. Do 5 sets, shooting for max load for an entire set. Just did this on Monday up to 150. It was just as mentally draining as physically. For being such a simple workout, it is absolutely punishing.
Here's my photo. I've lost 90 pounds, goal is to lose another 10 before the end of the year. I lost 50 pounds last year, and looking to lose 50 pounds this year (so far I'm down 40). I've been counting my calories, eating a very balanced assortment of simple foods, but very small portions. Exercise has played a smaller part, diet seems to be 80% responsible for my weight loss, while exercise seems to account for 20%. I got heavy living in Michigan. Long winters for a Florida native born and raised, so we passed the time eating too much. Glad to be back in Florida again. My best two tricks. 1) Eat the same thing every day. It gets to be routine and then food becomes less entertainment and more of a basic task. I cheat on Saturday and eat anything I want. So I try to schedule all my parties, social events, restaurants on Saturdays. (and when I say eat the same thing... I mix it up a little- tuna or turkey for lunch, a different fruit each day, yogurt or salad, but the variation is pretty small... the meal plan looks exactly the same all week long) 2) I keep a notebook in the kitchen, and I record everything I eat. It seems to keep me honest... and its amazing how knowing your calories, allows you to make good judgment calls. ( I weigh in every Friday so I can make sure I'm not eating too many calories.) I spent the first few months on my diet seeing what calorie count worked for my slow metabolism. Everyone is different, but with a notebook and a scale you can pin it down. More photos below- I love this soup...no calories, great taste, and it takes a long time to eat, so satisfies my need to eat something that's not gone in 2 seconds. Also bought a exercise bike, ride one hour a day while watching the news... 4 days a week. I go to the gym also, but bikes were getting run down, so I bought my own. Now I just lift one day a week and ride the bike the other 4. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fantastic results Mark! I used the winter excuse when I really let myself go in 2005 myself. I had started my new lifestyle last winter, and haven't looked back since
Thanks Isaac and Jason, for the kind words. Its nice to get support when you're on a diet. As we all know, its not the easiest thing to go through. I think the other point of this is to share tips, and help other who are just getting started, or looking for new ideas that have worked for others. Isaac I see your in Michigan. I use to live in Troy Michigan... and it was that fantastic Jets Pizza that was partially responsible for making me fat over those long winter months. LOL One more tip to share... it helps if you can go on a diet with your wife. Not having that junk food around always makes it way easier. My wife started her diet 6 months before I started mine, she done (lost 35 pounds). I'm about 6 months away from being all the way down to swim suit shape...LOL. But, it was nice to have some friendly competition. It also makes the after diet maintenance planning much easier. -Recent photos... My wife Ana on her way to Zumba class. Me and my dog, Ginger isn't too happy, I just chased her around the house, she's about to get a bath. -Old photo of us before we got going on our new eating program. That is a good tip. Your tip works the flip too. I'm single, no prospects, and nothing better to do. I realized about a week ago that I was rushing through everything I did in my life, just to get home. Get home for what? So now I take even more time at the gym, and am in no rush to get home either. I'm slowly getting back into cardio, and hope to "tighten" up. I've also upped my days, and go 5 days now. 4 if something comes up.
I use to do the same thing. Rush to get out of the gym or off the bike. I had to keep asking myself... what's the rush? Funny how we get in the "hurry up mood" for no real reason. I like to watch the crowds at the movie theater, when they all seem to rush for the exit. Everyone's in a hurry because every one else is in a hurry.
