As many of you know, the FIA started the World Drivers Championship in 1950, but didn't start the World Constructors Championship (under a different name) until 1958.

So the question is: where would Ferrari have ranked if the WCC had started in 1950? I did a little research and I think I came up with the right answers. These are based on the point structure of the time (8-6-4-3-2 for first thru fifth, plus 1 for fastest lap) and the long-standing rule that only the highest-placed car's points for each constructor would be counted.

On that basis, here is what the rankings would have been:
1950 - 2nd (beats Lago Talbot on the basis of a higher race finish)
1951 - 2nd (loses to Alfa Romeo on the basis of fewer race wins)
    1952 - 1st
    1953 - 1st
    1954 - 2nd
    1955 - 2nd
    1956 - 1st
    1957 - 3rd

The only years the team didn't win a race were 1950 and 1957. If we assume that a finish in the top 3 (a "constructors podium") is pretty good, remember that there were far fewer teams then than there are today, so finishing 2nd in 1955 (not a good year, really) or 3rd in 1957 was nothing to be proud of.
