    Hi everybody. I was looking at f50 pictures at carclassic.com and was wondering what kind of material behind the seats of an f50 is.

    Does anybody know what kind of material that is?...is it some sort of heat shield?...

    nope..no joke. the reason of this silly ? is cause since owners can afford the f50, why don't they make it out of carbonfiber...as shown here. Im not all that good with carbon fiber...but heres a taste...

    I personally would love to have this as a replacement of the grey one on all f50's.

    I doubt many people pay attention to what's behind the seats of an F50 :)

    O.K. What am I missing?? Why is having a heat reflective barrier between the engine bay and passenger compartment funny??

    Carbon fiber isn't heat resistant and your back would get a bit hot.

    it is some sort of suede/alcantera material. there is lots of carbon fibre in the cabin, including door sills, door panels, passenger side dash, etc, but the top of the dash and areas behind the seats are made of that suede-type material.

    I think having it recovered in something along the lines of a flower print material would be nice.
