The event was hosted by RueAnn and Bernie Morgan. Some of the non-Ferrari automobiles present were Bernie Morgan's own Maserati, Don Horn's DB4 Aston-Martin, Jake Kaplan's new Lamborghini and Warren Olson's Corette Stingray. Horn's 4.9 Ferrari was laid up for rear axle ailments. Jake Kaplan was the Eastern Distributor for Lamborghini. A late arrival was the Lancia Flaminia driven in from California by Bruce DePalma. It was noted if Bruce had brought along instead his 410 Super America he would have captured the long distance prize. There was also a concours... CH
Now that is what i call a Ferrari meeting. Brilliant well done who ever put that together. Best part ? Not a single red/tan 360 spider (private inside joke for a few of my older clients)
Yes I thought about the serial numbers but it was not a big deal back then. Still here is one to start> The 250 MM of Jack Reuter was 0050-M. I can't vouch for the details but there was an interesting story to go with this particular Ferrari: it's chassis was an early 166 given to Dino Ferrari by his father and re-engined. Dino Ferrari took the car to a then unknown small builder and had a roadster body built. This appears to be the first Scaglietti Ferrari. The car was once owned by Porifirio Rubirosa. CH
The 250 Roadster Touring owned by Bernie Morgan was the black/white barchetta serial number 0253 EU. Mr Morgan was the local VW dealer at that time. CH

James Ibold owned 4893GT, which was still in his family as late as 2004. Carl Johnson owned 3937GT, which has been made into a replica SWB. Dudley Huhlman (I have it as Kuhlman) owned 2745GT, which has also been made into a replica SWB. I have no records of a Harley Watts owning a GTE. The fellow on Page 6 in the Brown Jacket with the Silver GTE; is that Harley Watts or James Ibold?
There was a concours in the morning minus one red Ferrari. Moe Sherid left early with his 1958 250 GT Boano Coupe #0623 GT going back to PA. Best of Show - Harry Gaunt 250 Europa Coupe Best Coupe - Bill Markley 410 Super America Best Convertible - Berne Stayman 250 California Best Roadster - Jack Reuter 250 MM Scaglietti Oldest Car Driven to the Meet - Fred Herdeen 166 Vignale Coupe Car Driven Farthest to Meet - Dr. Dick Cardozo 275/GTB The 1965 GTB was driven in from New Hampshire. Is this GTB painted Oro Chiaro? Of note the 1966 275 GTB of Stephen Sumner was driven up from Daytona Beach. Is this GTB painted Rosso Cordoba Metallizzato? Colors might help identify these two GTB models of 1965 and 1966 vintage... CH
There was a panoramic picture taken of the concours field that was made available for purchase after the event. Anybody have a copy of that picture? For the Ferrari concours there were three judges: Bob Tarwacki, John Carmack and John Powell. However one concours winner was not smiling for very long. Bill Markley winner of 'Best Coupe' for his 410 Super America (s/n 1495 SA) ran into trouble. Enroute to the motel his 410 Super America was sideswiped by an 81 year old man driving a decrepit old Ford. Result: one torn fender and door and one shot Ford. After repairs a total paint job was necessary for the Ferrari. CH
I was just lucky when I interviewed Gary Wales for the BV book, he mailed an entire stack of photos to me so it was good to scan and share them since he was happy to do so. Incredible gathering, almost impossible to reproduce today, not mentioning the carefree mood! best regards, Marc
This is Phil Ward of MoondoggieGraphics.com I created the "Behind the Scenes" "flipbook" from photos provided to me by Gary Wales. The panoramic photo is on the cover page of the flipbook. This panoramic photo was sent to me by Cliff Reuter, Jack Reuter's son. The original photo he sent was in black and white. If you have additional interest please contact me directly.
Thanks This is Phil Ward of MoondoggieGraphics.com I put the flipbook together from photos provided by Gary Wales.
Thanks I will add these S/N's to the list I have which will then be added to the documentation on the web pages for the FCA 1966. Phil
