Will a bell exhaust for a BBi fit on a carb car?
yes as long as your has 512 headers. dealers installed 365 headers on some 512's which required a different muffler
I was thinking about it, but decided against it. my car is fairly original and has the two can"sport" ansa.. I already modded my 550 to the max, I think I'm going to go the original route, even tho there are great upgrades out there.
so do you have the 365 headers? Show us a pic at the rear where you can see the headers sticking down.
Good day Steve, Upon hearing (and seeing) your excellent video, I ordered up a Bell for my BB. I should have it here in a few more weeks. Thanks again for the info! Given that I am getting a new Bell, my existing QuickSilver BB exhaust (for standard manifolds with low hours) will be available for sale if anyone is interested. Cheers, Sam
Good day Kevin, The QS is a fantastic exhaust (and one of the most expensive...2723 GBP including shipping as opposed to tbe Bell at 1300 GBP + shipping), but did not have the resonant sound I was interested in. Its idle tone is quite primitive sounding, but changes to more of a resonant tone over 3K RPM. I guess I had a sound in my head that I was going after and sadly the QS was not doing it for me. As for the quality, it is very well made, and still pretty heavy. Fitting it to the car took a bit of work, as the OEM manifolds, etc are all "slightly" different (I am hoping the Bell will be easier to fit). Anyway, after exploring the variety of options available (Tubi, Xost, Larini, SS Exhaust, and ...yikes... Stebro - only for comparison purposes), I decided upon the Bell (thanks to Steve for the audio!), as it had the sound and resonant tones that I wanted. Initially, I was going to design up my own exhaust with the help of one of my buddies that builds/races his own cars (this guy built himself his own version of a Mclaren F1...BMW F1 Engine, F1 Suspension, etc... you get the picture). Given my work constraints, shortness of the season, etc, and the fact that the Bell seemed to have the sound I wanted, I decided to go this route. If I am still unsatisfied (people like to call me particular ), then the custom route is what I will have to do... Once I get the Bell, I will post some pics on the fitment process for all to see... and hear . Cheers, Sam
Anyone want a Bell ? Check out FAds.com, in the parts section. Brand new and in the box. Never messed with at all. Ciao
I do hope you like it Sam, it is quite loud but civilised when cruising, a somewhat deeper sound than other systems. ralph why did you not fit the bell? Steve
Steve I do not know, if I want to keep the car. I may be thinking of a different car. Not everyone is going to want a car, with three different exhaust systems available. Once it is mounted, it is no longer new. Cheers
Anytime My pleasure Cheers ...don't shoot, but I thought of a factory Fiorano 550, with the rollbar, and sport seats. It must haul ass, and for me it is something different. I have only had nothing, but mid-engine 12's. My biggest issue is power steering. I do not like boosted p.s. It takes away all of the fun. Perhaps it is possible, to convert it to manual steering ?
